Today is the first Sunday of the month of July and I embrace it with the word of God. With a heart full of gratitude for all the blessings he gave to me inspite of the hectic schedules and the tiresome but productive week.
As part of my commitment to share the word of God through this flatform I am writing this article on response to it. I know I was not true to myself and to this commitment because I wasn't able to publish my "Food for the soul" article last week. As I faced busy schedules and so much struggles that writing an article was not possible but I forgive myself to that lapses and move on. Trying to do more this time as I went back on track.
Going back since I wasn't able to publish an article last week I have decided to had a recap. The last week gospel from Mark 5:21-43 which talks about strong faith of a father who had a daughter who already pass away but still asked the Lord to let his daughter lived and to the woman who suffered great sickness for over twelve years but because of faith both of their prayers answered. Our faith within us affects on to the things that we prayed for. The Lord God never abondon us or turn His back to us. He listen to us always sometimes it is just a different yes.
Yes, you can have it.
The prayers in which we received right away because it is inclined with the will of the Father and your will. Thus the Lord gave it right away because it is what you need and it is appropriate for you.
Yes, but it's not the right time yet.
These are the prayers that take so much time to received that we even think that it would not come anymore. But the Lord tries to tell us to be patient, because it is right for you but it's not the time yet. It will come when you least expect it.
No, I have prepared something bigger.
These are the unanswered prayers that we have. We even think that God don't care or not listening to us. Your wrong because the Lord is not giving it to you because He prepared something bigger than what you have prayed for. He prepared of the great things that you deserve.
We just need to trust Him and His process. Because He knew things better than us. His plan is better than ours. When we don't get things in our way, don't be mad. Be sensitive as to what the Lord tries to tell you. What kind of yes He answered for your prayers.
The gospel of this week is a continuation of Jesus teachings journey. As the last week was in chapter 5 of Mark and today is the chapter 6.
The Holy Gospel
Mark 6:1-6
Jesus departed from there and came to his native place, accompanied by his disciples. When the sabbath came he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished. They said, "Where did this man get all this? What kind of wisdom has been given him? What mighty deeds are wrought by his hands! Is he not the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?" And they took offense at him. Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house." So he was not able to perform any mighty deed there, apart from curing a few sick people by laying his hands on them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.
Reflection
Jesus was known to different places of His teachings and His great work of miracles but he was contempted in His own place. His countrymen contempted Him of who He is because they know Him. They know His father and His brothers and sisters and because of that the people were hesitant on believing unto him. Things in life is sometimes like that to us. People who have known us are the ones who will judge us and don't believe in us. Sometimes these people are our own family or relatives. They judge us of things whenever we change for good. They judge us of the past life we had whenever they see us have new life. As if we don't have chances to change. As if we don't have hope that we could change. When we face those contempts we must have a strong heart. To prove all of them that they were wrong. Let us remind ourselves that even Lord Jesus was contempted, mocked and shamed. Therefore whenever we hear contempts we must not be weakened. Let us continue to strive to change and give ourselves a chance. Let us not focus on the people around us but unto the Lord God. Let Him be the center of our heart and life.
