My day starts as early as 5:00 in the morning. I prepare myself to do a mission since my tita in the CFC-couples for Christ community asked me to join the mission with them. The mission is to have a values teaching formation to the ANCOP scholars in the South part of the province. ANCOP means Answering the Cry of the Poor. It is a foundation initiated by the Couple's for Christ Community around the world. We specifically visit the St. Ambroise Village funded by Canada. We leave the house at 5:40 in the morning.
St. Ambrose Village is a housing project funded by the Couple's for Christ Community from Canada. Very generous enough to share their blessing to the poor people of this place. It is a huge village with I estimated of hundred or more housing in total. I forget to asked the Tito's there.
Tita and Tito by the way is the calling we use to the elder in the community. It serves as a respect to them as a youth under their guidance in the community.
Going back, we arrived there almost eight o'clock in the morning. They were all ready for the activity as we see them prepared chairs and speakers but there's no one there since the activity starts at 9:00 am. Since we leave in our place early we were famish and stomachs were grumbling for food. We enter in a small area were food is ready in the table. We were very surprised of how they prepare food for us. It's lavish and overwhelming.
Very excited to have our breakfast, we wait no one and prayed to bless the food. We have sunny side up egg my favorite, hotdog and another personal favorite scabetchi /es-ka-bet-tsi/. We eat our breakfast with puto (sticky rice) as our dessert. After eating our breakfast we started the activity for the ANCOP values formation and orientation. This activity doesn't only have the purpose to visit the whole village but most specifically give a values formation to the scholars. Yes, Canada not only give this people a house but also a scholarship for the kids here. They have total of 48 scholars consist of highschool, senior high school and college students. This values formation consist of talks that talk of values that must have as sons and daughters of God and as blessed scholars.
His talk tackles about being bless for having the scholarship, the role each member of the family play and how they responded for the blessings they have.
Bless for having the scholarship
Having the scholarship is a great blessing. There are a lot of kids out there who wanted to go to school but lack the privilege to do so thus as a scholar they will be grateful of the opportunity and the blessings to have the scholarship that help them in terms of education.
The role each member of the family play
The parents has a great role to play in this blessings for they will be the one to guide their child and remind them of their study. They will be a huge factor for this journey and their support is highly needed. Aside from guiding and reminding their child. They are expected to encourage their child to be active in the community as well as excel in the study or if not would not neglect their study or take for granted.
How they responded towards the blessings
The scholarship is a great blessing and having such blessing they must be grateful. Being grateful towards the people who grant the scholarship, they must do good in their studies aside from that they must bring back the goodness and serve the Lord through the community. Being active and attending the different values formation and teaching that will make them grow spiritually and could help their faith grow, also to share the goodness of the Lord towards other scholars and individuals is what means to serve the Lord.
After the talks Tito Charlie calls few sharers and I am one of them. Since I was an ANCOP scholar before I share what was my journey as an ANCOP scholar, which I will prefer to share to you in a separate article.
After the talk, the orientation began which given by one of the ANCOP coordinator, Tita Epin. Since there are lots of Ancop she highlighted the terms and conditions of the scholarship. Followed by the open forum. We ended the activity at past 11:00 in the morning. And had our picturial and lunch.
We wrap up our visit with a tour in the village. And bid our goodbye to all of them. Hoping we could meet again soon.
Next up is the ANCOP scholars of another Sector in the South of the province. Since it was still 1:00 in the afternoon and we are already in the South, Tita Epin decided to visit other scholars as well. Have values formation and teachings to the scholars just like what we do with the previous scholars.
Closing thought
With the pandemic that is going on with us today, let us not forget to reach out to our brothers and sisters in the community, in the faith. To remind them that there's no pandemic greater than our God. That inspite and despite the challenges God is with us all. That we need to share our blessings to them and the goodness of the Lord and how He touches our lives. Wherever you are right now continue to do God's mission.
In the talks that Tito Charlie had given its not just applicable to the scholars but to all of us as well. That
whatever we received is a blessings and we must be grateful of those blessings, especially the life and the good health everyday as we wake up. Much more that we still have food to eat and works that sustain our daily needs amidst this pandemic. That is a blessing indeed that we must be grateful for and with that gratefulness that we have may this reflects through our actions of sharing what we have to other people and serving the Lord. Doing our best in every aspects, may it be work, study and others. Let us grow in faith and in spirit as a whole.
It was a tiresome day but super bless.
