The Company Which Brought Internet Revolution In India

This world is a big place that is developing at very a fast rate. Lots of excellent inventions and ideas are already there still you see many start-ups and projects coming unnoticed and blow the whole market like a revolution. This shows that anything is possible and can happen at any time.

In India till 2016, very few people knew about the internet and we saw it as a bad thing for our country and even government didn't encourage it and tried to understand it even though the CEO of Google and Microsoft were from India.

Just like what current Finance Ministers and the government are doing with Crypto. At that time also unnecessary comments and bad points were given importance rather than the use-case and growth.

It wasn't banned but there was negativity and no encouragement for it and so we missed so many opportunities and another thing is that the Internet data was slow and costly at that time, like 1.5$ for 1GB monthly with 3G speed. You can imagine how costly it was.

But one year a Telecom company named 'Reliance Jio' came and created an internet revolution in India. It provided free Sim Cards and gave the cheapest data and that with 4G speed. Though it was a successful marketing plan of which they are making huge profits now and the price of Packs has also been increased but still the fact that it brought the internet to every corner is a feat to respect.

The Small Sim-Cards capable of doing such heavy tasks.

Due to that many other Telecom companies completely lost their market value and many shut down their company or did a partnership with other companies. Still, none comes close to Jio.

You know India is the second-largest populated country in the world imagine more than 70-80% of people know how to use the internet all thanks to Jio. Though most of them only use it as an entertainment source, lol.

What to say, we are hard-minded people and slow catchers.

Reliance Jio came in the end months of 2016 available to common people and still now it dominates more than 60% of the Telecom market as seeing it many other companies raise their game and trying to compete.

This company is owned by Reliance Industries and majorly backend by India's Richest Man 'Mukesh Ambani'. In an interview he said that the idea of coming into this sector was given by her daughter when she came back from the US, she was very dissatisfied with the internet service. With that, he was given an idea.

Well thanks, lady, I will be forever grateful to you.

Jio didn't stop there, it even launched the cheapest 4G smartphone keypad variant for people at just 20$, though the phone isn't that great but for a 4G smartphone it does the job. It's now even coming with its Wi-Fi or Broadband service named Jio-Fiber which is very cheap and value for money compared to other broadband services. The only other company giving competition to it is 'Airtel' but its service is not that good in my place.

The broadband connection is not available to my place, it's like 10 km away from 2 years, lol. Whenever I call them they say, Sir in one or two months we will reach your area and it's two years already, huh liars!

Final Thoughts

Anyways though he used a very cunning business approach to give the product free first and then raised the prices and membership charges, none can deny they created the internet revolution in India.

There are a lot of start-ups like these for example which created a revolution like Ola, Uber, Zomato ( Online Food Delivery service), Trivago etc.

And just like this crypto is also one. Most countries are trying to grip their knowledge and possession on it early because it's a revolutionary thing which will bring a change as every project which provides a solution to a certain problem for human people had been successful.

And so Crypto will as its motive is to make you independent through decentralisation. I won't deny Crypto is perfect it has flaws also which I knew already but completely forgot about it, see Sir @Unity article for more information.

I didn't realise that other countries have costly network charges, thanks for everyone telling me about your places' charges. Small information but a good one as I was thinking it's still costly according to my place as it was almost 30% cheaper than that when Jio first launched. But before that, it was a hell of costly which I already told you like 2GB 3G data for a month at 2.5$ or 3$ without any freebies.

I just want better speed now from them, haha. Because the service quality is decreased a bit with increase in customers.

And with that sorry, our Tele-Communication through this article stops. Kindly recharge for uniterrupeted services in future.

Is there anything like this which became a revolutionary start-up or project in your place in recent 5 years or more?

I am also on some other Platforms, Let's be friends there.

That's awesome, we have 5G in starting and testing phase, not available to the public.

Data services are quite costly in my country, 1.5GB of data costs over $2. But thank God we are in a technological revolution where things will only get better for God. Happy for the technological advancement in your country though.

It is a well-articulated report about one of India's top-selling Internet service providers. This company has been "gifted" the costly telecommunication infrastructure of the government-owned BSNL. You and I can beat these Internet service providers' businesses with handsome funding in hand. The major problem would be to tackle/satisfy the money-hunger of the ruling political parties!

  • In our localities, people complain that this operator's agents/staff regularly "cut" cables of other competitor companies in broad daylight. People also complain that there is no service hub/station, but their authorized agents collect money for FTTH (fiber to the home) annual subscription.

May I know if 5G is already stronger in your country? Here in the Philippines we are not using much of 5G and surprisingly there are new phones coming with 5G internet which made me think if it will be a big thing to switch into 5G. For me 4G is already good internet.

Marketing strategies are indeed mostly sneaky, cheap at first then when there are many users they will raise prices.

I suppose they provided all the cheap yearly package you talked about on your last article. I considered that very very cheap. Here in my country, we have yearly subscription for data only. around $180 for 1TB

very expensive. How are the learning conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic? India was reported to have been severely affected by COVID, wasn't it? Schools are closed and must study at home on-line. It's very heavy if the internet quota is very expensive. In my area it was still quite expensive to buy internet quota, now the cheapest is $35 5 GB internet combo, calls and sms can also be done. And many types of operators

Wow which country it's cheaper? The schools are open for now. Sadly it's not that effective as many people still couldn't afford a smartphone along with the cost of recharging it.

Israel, South Korea are cheap, actually Indonesia is quite expensive, especially the cost of using it. Even though they are bought cheap, each has its advantages and disadvantages

4G Smart phone in your country is really affordable that it cost only $20. Much more it is harder to get destroyed cause it made of good materials.

No doubt Reliance Jio brought internet revolution in India and paying a way to the the digital revolution but one of the biggest aspect we need to work on is curbing the digital gap in INDIA both in terms of gender and rural or urban accessibility.

In my village nowadays every house has a big smartphone and I was shocked when I got to know that there's a government school for kids which was taking both offline and online classes. They gap is decreasing, rate is slow.
