Happy Weekend you awesome readers. I hope anyone affected by Odette is as good as can be expected. Some good friends of mine in Cebu have had their roof ripped off and garage gone, so am sending all read and noise earning to them. Nature is a powerful animal and a beast when upset. All the stores are shut so getting repair materials is not easy. I remember being hit by a hurricane when I lived in Florida and it caused havoc and devastation, my house was flooded and my pick up truck was thrown down the street.
Today in Scotland we had glorious sunshine, so I took the opportunity to visit the park and feed the animals. Sammy the squirrel was on holiday somewhere, so I focused on the pond. Dafty was nowhere to be seen anywhere either.
I did notice that the baby swans are now getting far more independent.
Mum and Dad were on the pond with four of the babies. But Cutie-pie and blueberry-pie were missing.
This was Susie steamrolling in once she saw I was feeding. Do you see her wings, they are not back in the rest position this is because she had just flared up at a dog and was beating her wings. When they do that, they look pretty darn big and scary I can tell you!
Do you see Coo-pie on the right, how he is eating the food, his mouth is open.
When they eat, they take an intake of water to aid digestion, this is why you should really only feed swans when they are in the water. Nor should you feed them bread, as they can't really digest it well. The little brown pellets you see in the water are special duck and swan food that I get delivered from Amazon. All animals still need to have a balanced diet not just us humans!
I left the pond and was determined to find out what happened to the two missing babies. Where were Cutie-pie and Blueberry-Pie?
I walked around the corner and I saw one of the missing two babies.
Have a look at the picture below of Cutie-pie and tell me what is odd about her.
You can see her watching me, but look ar her foot. She was sunbathing and asleep and then woke up, and forgot she was not in the water, so trying to paddle but was on dry land. Once she knew it was me, she put her foot down and turned round for food!
So that was now five of the six babies, but where was Blueberry-pie?
I carried on, and then peeked in the bushes where they used to go when they were much smaller and lo and behold, what did I see?
Yes there he was, having a wee bit of me time. So I reckon between one month and two months is when the babies will be leaving the nest and Steve the meaning Father will be chasing all six babies away to another site, as Steve and Susie will be wanting to mate again. Nature can be a strange animal at times.
I left them all to it and decided to go visit The Wizard. On the way, Eddie Wildlife tried his tricks and did manage to see someone.
It was not Sammy, but his long long lost uncle. Apparently he is called Shy, and it seems an appropriate name, because not even Eddie Wildlife could get Shy to turn around and pose for the camera!
The woods will be for another day!
Anyways, that is part of my wee story for today, thanks for reading and I hope you have a great one:)
