Friday fun, let's have a competition
12th November 2021 Hello you magnificent readers. The weekend is here, well for some of us the weekend is here. As for me, my Friday will actually be Sunday as I will be working until Sunday night. It is all good though, as this means that on my days off, the shops will be less busy, the park will be less busy, and the restaurants will be less busy and infact actually have cheaper deals. So there is a win-win situation if you look for it. Talking about winning, I am on day 12 of my November challenge. This challenge is to publish one article a day. When I had originally set it as a goal, I didn't really think I would be able to do it, as I used to have this as a goal and failed quite spectacularly. But when I renamed the goal to a challenge, then the competitive me took over and heck no, I won't let myself lose to me π So I better be true to my word and keep this one a day streak up until the end of November. Now this will be a bit of a freewrite ramble today, as I am not sure what thoughts will pop out of my head and find their way tumbling down into print for you to read. It will be a surprise. **Don't you like surprises?** Well good ones, of course, we all love those good surprises, don't we! **Christmas is coming and the goose is getting fat!** Talking of Christmas, when do you cook and eat your big Christmas meal? Do you have it on Christmas Eve, on Christmas day, or the day after, perhaps it might even be on the sixth of January? Here in the UK, Christmas lunch on Christmas day and with a turkey π¦ and all the trimmings is the traditional meal and time and then it was tradition to watch the Queen's speech. **What do you eat for your Christmas meal?** As you may know, I have been lucky with a couple of giveaways recently and with Christmas coming up rapidly, I have decided that I will have some of contest, or some sort of competition or some sort of challenge. Obviously with this being a writing platform, it will have to involve some kind of writing. **What would you like as a Christmas competition?** Obviously, I appreciate the fact that we have many religions here in read.cash so not everyone celebrates Christmas. However, I want to make the challenge/contest in such a way that it will be an all-inclusive competition so that everyone can enter if they so wish. And of course, I will start saving for some prize money. I am not sure when it will start and end but it will be soon. So my awesome readers get your thinking caps on. **Let me know in the comments ππ what you would like to see!** Have you put any Christmas decorations up yet, any trees or lights etc. I haven't although I have started to write some Christmas cards so that I can send them abroad so that they can get there in time for Christmas. I have seen all these posts about Shopee and their 11/11 sale and all the orders that some of you have submitted. We don't have that, the next big sales here are for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which are just after the American Thanksgiving which is the fourth Thursday in November. It seems we copy all the American commercialism now for selling goods from retailers. It used to be that in the UK that the two big sales of the year were on Boxing Day (26th December) and New Years Day. People used to queue up overnight outside stores to grab bargains, but now the rise in online shopping has not made these such big events. I remember you used to see them covered on the news and people being interviewed to see how many days they had been in a queue for! Crazy people. Well that's all me for today, sometimes it is good to be short but sweetπ€£ I had to put the swanbombing picture in again today, it really made me chuckle! Wow! It would be nice for everyone to write about their own ways to celebrate the Holidays seasons. How do their places look on 25th of December? The decors, the foods, their ways of getting together, and the things they do that they consider unique only to them on this season. Like in our family, we tend to pray together, a few minutes before 12 a.m. comes. π€
Yes a good way to find out what countries do, and what even individual families do in different provinces, for example, you pray just before midnight, actually one of the very few times we would go to church was on Christmas eve about 11pm for what was called the Midnight Watch service. In olden times it would be the busiest sermon of the year as it started after the pubs closed and all the drunks would go in to church on the way home and donate their money:)
*That's a nice idea! Though we aren't celebrating Christmas this time only New Year because of my recent religion but when I was young we used to celebrate it together with my siblings, grandma, uncle, aunt and my father. I would like to see how everyone prepares for this Holiday, about the food that everyone prepares and how they will celebrate it at home. Maybe some have drinking session, having videoke, etc. That would be nice, I feel like I was back in those old times.*
Oh you have changed religion, oh well I hope you have an enjoyable New Year. Yes how people spend the holidays and their traditions, maybe some that only some families do, it would be good to have a virtual read holiday season.
Advnce merry christmas to you and ill include the happy new year hehehe. As a matter of fact i missed the cards, as gadgets been exist I never accept even one now not like before I have a lots of cards during my birthday and other occasions. Wow im so exciting with your competition soon.
hehe Advance Merry Christmas to you too and a Happy New Year. Yes read physical cards are great I remember when we used to get lots of cards, and put them up on the wall. Yes well make the competition soon.
Wow. Celebrating events are things I am very good at...I even make extensive plans for school holidays haha. It counts too. Making decorations from paper was what we used to do as kids.
ah yes, I remember making paper chains that we hang around the rooms from the ceilings. So you are the planner, now that is good to know!
We did make those too and colour them...and yeah I am the planner but only ehen it comes to holidays haha.
hehe okay I shall rephrase, you are the holiday planner, well this is a holiday competition π€£
Wow this is actually exciting if it pushes through. hehe At home, the Christmas Tree isnβt up yet because itβs been a busy couple of weeks. I only changed the throwpillow cases in the living room into something red/green and festive. I cannot wait to start decorating too. Itβs almost Christmas π iβve only started buying gifts this week too
oh I have started a wallet for the prizes on my bitcoin.com app ;) So it will push through... Aha at home I too changed my throw on the sofa into a festive one! Great minds think alike I see :) I have bought no gifts yet though!
Aaaa that is amazing! I look forward! βΊοΈ Omg π letβs decorate soon! the 11.11 sale is truly tempting because of the free shipping vouchers so itβs a good time to check out those little gifts π i wish i could manage to not spoil it to them until the 25th though.
hehe I did see people buying lights on the 11.11 sale Now you have me wanting to decorate now π€£ You have to keep the gifts until the 25th though!
I love your idea. Maybe some $Cats would be the prize, it is a very good option. I hope you already release the rules of the contest to participate!
hehe some $CATS perhaps I hadn't thought of that, as for rules, oh heck no, I only thought of this just before I published the article π€£π€£π€£
Christmas meal is definitely rice with chicken or turkey and also ram or cow would be slaughtered
I love chicken and rice or turkey and rice, oh a ram or cow would be slaughtered, would that be for big families?
Brother, am I getting invited soon? Because Christmas is coming and you are showing me some lovely things. π½οΈ
Hehe you have an open invitation brother. As Christmas gets closer I am sure we will see lots of lovely things here π
In my family we don't prepare too many food during Christmas eve, we prepare only for us to eat for that midnight and we prepare more during new years eve, as my family believe that we should prepare plenty of food during New year's Eve, so in the next whole year we always have plenty of food in our table..π i don't know if it's true.. it's just i grew up with that kind of beliefs. Anyway I'm excited with your competition, i hope i can be able participate.
That is an interesting belief. So your special meal is Christmas Eve, and then the big one for New Year. In the olden days in Scotland, New Year was much bigger than Christmas.
I will surely join that competition Sir, any kinds competition I will accept that as a challenge.
Hehe challenges are fun π Will post it soon
Advnce merry christmas my dear mate. The beautiful food that will be in your house will be left for me for merry christmas. I will come to eat. Let's go for fun.I can hear that beautiful song right now.
Hehe yes you will have a Merry Christmas with my food π I can hear it too π
That's great. It's been a while since we had a writing competition here.. Why not make the theme for Christmas with a twist. Like use other prompts such as acrostic π€£π€£,sorry, I just love that writing style haha.
I have noticed how much you love it π To be honest anything you right is an awesome read, now I just need to think of a twist or two πβπ
I saw Dafty again and it made me smile in an instant. π I also read a lot of articles about 11.11 but I don't need anything, so I don't join the hype.
Hehe I told you Dafty had lots of women ducks π€£π€£ well it is good you don't need anything, do you ever use shopee to get stuff for your farm?
Normally, we ate on Christmas eve with my family in our province but now since I'm in the city, most of the time, I celebrated Christmas at work . Let me join this challenge of yours. Advance merry christmas dear :)
I am doing the same challenge uncle and I do not miss a single too as well, hopefully we can keep it up. I am looking for the surprise you are planning. Haha. I am excited. And I haven't set up a Christmas decor at home yet. Maybe on the first of December? Haha.
Many of us think do we need to celebrated Christmas while we are in suffering of the covid19 pandemic? I said yes! definitely. I will celebrate and let's celebrate Christmas because for me it is the birth of Jesus Christ who saves us from our trespasses. He is the essence of Christmas. It is not the food that we prepare on out table it is the thought that counts. So I am so excited in celebrating Christmas with my family.
You already know about our Chiristmas celebration kuya hahaha
We used to have Turkey during Xmas but it was tedious to roast it. Hmm let me think of an Xmas contest and will let you know po.
I would like to join your Christmas competition, great idea.π We could write about our Christmas trees or what did we eat for Christmas meal.. I donβt have inspiration right now for some better idea... π I like to celebrate Christmas. I like Christmas decorations and really enjoy that days. We usually eat pork meat when is Christmas day (7th January) but I don't like it so I would rather eat a turkey like you doπ
Yes it will be a Christmas theme, and I will have a think and make a twist there in it. Ah yes the seventh your eat not the sixth. Do you eat carp at Christmas I know some countries in Europe eat that, I like pork but prefer turkey at Christmas β
Yes we eat some fish on Christmas eve (6th January) and that evening we break one special Christmas bread that has coin inside. Everyone gets his piece of bread and tries to find that coin. Who finds the coin in his piece, he will have luck π
That is fantastic, we used to do that with Christmas pudding, whoever makes the pudding puts a coin inside, and whoever finds it has good luck allegedly π
I am really so sure that many of the users will join in this competition bro. And I hope that I can join it.. Charss..
Theme will be Christmas? think of something that can incorporate on the theme to make it more creative
Something to do with Christmas βοΈπ for sure Eylz, maybe fish doing Christmas party tricks π€£π€£π€£
Christmas is one of the most awaited holidays for us because it is also the time when we all gathered together. We are a huge family, my grandparent's children, to grandkids and grand grand kids hahaha. It is also our culture to celebrate it with everyone and do some exchange gifts with a twist HAHA. I'm so excited about this Christmas competition kuya!
I expect a fantastic entry from you Inday Jini. Am curious though, with such a big family , do you give gifts to everyone? It sounds like it would be massive event what do you do, have a lechon for everyone!
before the pandemic strike, we really celebrate a huge party every Christmas, with games and many more and also with a letchon! HAHA
Hehe I can imagine, and hopefully that will be the same next year, am sure this year won't be as big.
There is so much to write about Christmas but put some magic on the challenge, I'm not expecting less from Eddie W. And about your November challenge, so far I'm impressed, keep it up π
Hehe you set the bar so high π Yes I need to have magic in the challengi for sure Eli. November challenge we are both impressed or is that pleasantly shocked π²π€£
The bar needs to be high always to give the best from ourselves ;) And now that you say it, I like it more pleasantly surprised π€£
You are trying with your challenge and it is very good to keep it up at least not to miss a day posting. Well this Christmas will be great day with my family. We used to eat our chicken on Christmas Day and New Year day and that's always been interesting and fun especially having to see your families. Ok, about the contest you can come up with anything since it is an all-inclusive contest. God will help us.
