Hello all.....How are you today? Did you sleep well and you have ful energy for today day?
Today I will introduse you a strange animal which lives in Postojna Cave.
The human fish or white marsh warbler (Proteus anguinus) is the only representative of the marsh warbler family (Proteidae) in Slovenia, and at the same time the only European vertebrate that lives permanently in caves. In surface watercourses flowing from caves, they are usually obtained only after heavy rains, when the rising waters take with them human fish that have failed to retreat to safety in time.
Pale, almost translucent skin, unusual red growths, eyes nowhere, four limbs and only ten fingers.I know you will ask how strange looks this animal, what are these hahahah......Believe me when I saw this first time I was surprised too.
An adult animal measures between 20 to 30 cm.It has three toes on its front legs and only two toes on its hind legs.It has developed pink external gills on both sides of the body, it also has simple lungs.
It is a long-live animal that is expected to live around 100 years.
The human fish therefore lives exclusively in groundwater and is well adapted to life in complete darkness. It senses what is happening in the surroundings with the help of the sense of smell and through vibrations, which it accompanies with the sensory organs arranged in the skin. Her eyes are stunted and covered with skin, as they do not benefit her in an environment without light, but the entire surface of her body is sensitive to light.
So if you wish to see this amazing animal in live come to Slovenija and visit Postojma Cave.
WELCOME ALL!!!!
