In the developed world, spices are primarily an enrichment of taste, while everywhere else they are considered to be the safest and at the same time the most reliable way to health. Because they are well aware of their healing powers, they use them a lot, and they have no qualms about using them in the youngest ones. Is that why they are often much healthier than our children? Sure!
Scientific research all over the world reaffirms the extraordinary healing powers of spices every day. What our ancestors always knew, including traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, and great names such as Paracelsus and St. Hildegard, is being rediscovered by science today.
Contrary to popular belief, spices are also very suitable for small children. We are talking, of course, about very small pinches and perfectly clean spices. Those that grow in the home garden or. spices produced exclusively in an organic way. If we include them in the daily diet of children, their benefits will quickly be seen in the improved health picture. In traditional countries, this has been followed for millennia, and children there, despite living in poorer conditions, rarely suffer from allergies, have significantly fewer problems with fungi and parasites, and asthma and dermatitis are much rarer diseases, to name a few.
What spices are suitable for children? Almost everything, you could say. Even the burning ones, if we know how to prepare them properly. You know, roasted garlic or ginger does not bake, because with this method of preparation they become sweeter. So make sure that the dish does not taste too sharp, especially in the first years, when children need (naturally!) A sweet taste for their growth and development. This is also found in spices. And if I say - almost everything - choosing the "best" five is a big deal. But there is something to start with. If you are interested in the topic, you are warmly invited to read the manual The healing power of spices for children, where you will see that you can use many others, which I do not mention here.
CINNAMON
A sweet spice suitable for all seasons and a variety of dishes and drinks. We benefit most from it if we first make strong tea (eg 2 tablespoons of cinnamon per half liter of water) and then season dishes such as baby puree, yoghurt, freshly squeezed juices and the like with this concentrate. We keep it in the fridge and remember it as often as possible. Just shake well before use and you can already use it.Cimet deluje protivirusno, protibakterijsko, protiglivično, protivnetno, izjemno dobro uravnava krvni sladkor, izboljšuje miselne sposobnosti in še veliko drugega. Zelo pomembno, kot pri vseh začimbah: kupimo strogo ekološko certificirani cimet. Obe vrsti, kassia in cejlonski imata izjemne zdravilne učinke.
KURKUMA
Turmeric is a must-have supplement for all starchy foods, such as potatoes, pasta and rice. Its active ingredient curcumin is much better accessible to the body if we heat the turmeric, add some fat and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper.Kurkuma deluje močno protivnetno, protibolečinsko, protialergijsko, antioksidativno, protimikrobno … Njene zdravilne moči na najbolj slasten način lahko uživamo v slastnem zlatem napitku.
BLACK CUMIN
Children are not exactly fans of black, but with some skill and perseverance we can slowly introduce it into children's diets. For starters, we can help ourselves with black cumin oil, which of course is not black. Stir it into the honey (from this we multiply the power of honey and black cumin), and add the preparation to lukewarm tea, spread it on bread with butter, mix it into yoghurt, cereal porridge and the like. The ratio of black cumin oil to honey should be somewhere around 1: 9 at the beginning. Once children get used to the taste of black cumin oil, they will also find it easier to accept its black seeds. Of course, we get the most power from them if we grind them in a mortar before use.
BASIL
Of course, the spices that grow on our soil also bring a lot of good. Basil contains an abundance of important micronutrients, especially a lot of iron in it. It is best to use fresh (from the garden or window sill), as in dried form it retains only part of its aroma and thus also healing powers. Before use, just tear it (do not cut it) or grind it in a mortar. It is most delicious and useful all year round if it is prepared in the form of the famous basil pesto. With the addition of oil, salt, garlic (and, if desired, any nuts and grated Parmesan), we maintain its full healing power throughout the year. We do not need a freezer for this, but only a slightly cooler space, such as a basement. Pesto can also be easily inserted into unhealthy dishes, which make it much healthier with its power. We add it e.g. in sandwiches, homemade spreads (eg in cottage cheese), between different sauces, pasta, pizza…Basil has anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antiviral, regulates blood sugar, strengthens clarity of thought and much more.
GARLIC
As mentioned at the beginning, garlic is well received even by very young children, it just needs to be prepared properly. It is also important that we do not rush too much. Chop the garlic first, then let it stand in the air for ten minutes before rum in the pot. Only in this way will its full healing power develop. Of course, we will get the most out of it if we eat it raw. We can also get children used to this. We add it to salads (I suggest mixing it along with the other topping ingredients so the kids won’t feel it between their teeth), various spreads, soups, sauces and the like. Garlic is an excellent natural remedy in the fight against parasites, as Alfred Vogel wrote in the book Ljudski zdravnik. Chop the raw garlic and mix it with the raw milk. At the same time, of course, we offer the child something he likes and the drink will flow down his throat more easily. When he notices that he will drive away the annoying itching on his ass, he will ask for a new drink with garlic. In the book The Healing Power of Spices for Kids you will also find a recipe for making a garlic preparation in honey. Spices and honey are generally considered to be an extremely lucky combination, as they support each other and at the same time further enhance the healing effects of both.
In addition to its pronounced anti-parasitic effect, garlic also has a strong antibacterial, antifungal, anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, thinning blood effect, prevents the blood sugar from jumping too fast, to name a few. Its only bad feature is bad breath. But even this can be greatly mitigated by chewing a sprig of parsley, which again brings a bunch of health benefits.
Stay healthy! Stay safe!
