The Fall of the House of Usher

I am pretty sure that you have heard about the Edgar Allan Poe before, but maybe, you have not read any his story. He was writting the horror stories, and many people think that he is 'the father of horror'. Because of that, many people do not read his stories, they just do not like horror.

In case that you like horror stories, you are going to love 'The Fall of the House of Usher'. This story has many elements of horror, but it also has the elements of metaphor, and there are many symbols in this story.

At the beginning of the story, the narrator, comes to the house of his friend Roderik Usher, because his friend called him, and aksed him for help. When he arrives, he notices the small crac on the wall of the house. From the roof, to the bottom of the house, that is in the lake. (Whole house is weird, it looks like a castle, it is located int he center of the lake, and there is a bridge to come, and to leave.)

Po has written this sotry, before the psychology and psychiatry had many information about anxiety, but he described Roderik like a man with serious mental problems, anxiety and many others.

Madeline, Roderik's sister is also sick, she is suffering from catalepsy. (Sometime, she is one of her transes, and she seems like she is dead.)

Roderik is saying to his friend that he thinks that HOuse of Usher is alive, that she has her own mind, and feelings.

At one moment Roderik thinks that his sister is dead, so they put her in the family grave, that is located in the house. And, Roderik plansto bury his sister in the real grave, after two weeks.

One night, during the storm, narrator is reading a book to his nervous friend Roderik, but he becomes just more nervous. At one moment thjey start hearing sounds from the book, the door opens, Madeline is coming into the room (she was not dead, she just had one of her attacks), she falls on her brother, and they are falling to the floor like corpses.

Narrator escapes from the house, and the house of Usher splits in half, and it sinks into the lake.

Every single detail in this sotry is very important, and it is connected to other details, and you need to read it carefuly. Main character of this sotry is actually the house, it is the symbol of the Usher family. Family is destroyed and the house myst 'die'. And, it will, and the family will disappear.
