Today is the 28th day of February. It is the last day of the month. Last year is a leap year, which means there were 366 days. But this year is a common year, meaning there are 365 years. Leap year happens every four years, and that means that the next leap year, which will have 29th on the month of February, will be in 2024, and that would be Thursday.

You might be asking yourself if when do the people born on the 29 of February celebrate their birthday. Actually, I also once ask that in myself. And based on what I have heard or known from others whose birthday is that day, they said that they celebrate it either on the 28 of February of a common year or the first day of March. To think of it, this peculiar phenomenon is more than just an extra day on the calendar.

So, there might be some of those whose birthday is the 29 of February who are celebrating today. But the question is, how do they celebrate it?

Leapers, a name often called to those who were born on such date, might be confused that their birthday only came once every four years when they were still young, but of course, they will come to know it better once the term leap year is explained to them.

Here is a cool record:

Based on the Guinness Book of Records, the only confirmed example of a family producing three consecutive generations born on the 29 of February is that of the Keogh family. Peter Anthony was born in Ireland on a Leap Day in 1940, while his son, Peter Eric, was born in the U.K. on the 29 of February, 1964. Peter Eric’s daughter, Bethany Wealth, was also a Leap Day baby, born in the U.K. on the 29 of February 1996.

Does it sound interesting?

Just to share this thing that I have found out, Saul Stacey Williams, an American singer, musician, poet, writer, and actor, was born on the 29 of February in the year 1972.

On the other hand, by doing the math or the probability of baby being born on a particular day of a common year, that would be 1 out of 365, or that is 0.274 percent chance. However, leap year babies would be four times that, plus an extra day. That comes out to 1 in 1,461, or only 0.068 percent of the world’s population shares a birthday with someone whose birthday is the same as others. Supposing birthdays are evenly disseminated throughout the year.

So, what is it like to be a leap year baby?

One might say,

“Anyone that I have met that has been born on a leap year appears to be special.”

One may be annoyed too when someone makes fun or joke about his or her actual age.

Just a random thought. Suppose Abcde Xyz, a leaper went into a place where you have to prove that you are no longer a minor, showed his I.D. to the guard who does not know about a leap year. Is it possible that such a particular event will occur?

Let us say that indeed occurred, what will you say or do if you were in the situation of Abcde Xyz?

The comment section is waiting for replies. You are free to comment on your thoughts regarding the question and the topic as a whole. Thanks!
