Vitamins are substances that your body needs to grow and develop.

It is an essentail micronutrients which is needed for proper functioning of metabolism.

Essential micronutrients cannot be synthesized by the body therefore it must be obtained thru diet.

There are different kinds of vitamins:

  1. Vitamin A

  2. Vitamin B

  3. Vitamin C

  4. Vitamin D

  5. Vitamin E

  6. Vitamin K

Vitamins are abundant in food, so eating a balanced diet should be the key.

You can also obtain vitamins by taking over the counter supplements.

When taking vitamins you should know if its water soluble or insoluble.

Water soluble vitamins like vit. C and Vit. B are best taken in an empty stomach.

Insoluble vitamins like Vit. A, Vit. D, Vit. E and Vit. K are best taken with food.

Vitamins are essential to life and healthy living. Failing to acquire vitamins may cause defiency that are unhealthy and even dangerous.

Vitamin deficiency signs are as follows:

  1. Brittle hair and nails

  2. Mouth ulcers

  3. Gum bleeding

  4. Poor night vision

  5. Hair loss

  6. Dandruff

  7. Restless leg syndrome

If persistence of the signs as mentioned above even you are eating a well balanced diet you should consult your physician.
