A lot of it was directly from me. A lot of it came from community supporters like yourself who likely wouldn't have donated if Bitcoin.com hadn't setup the fundraiser on behalf of ABC.
Could you quantify how much exactly? Your original comment made it seem like all 436 BCH of it was from you.

This type of protocol capture (money-grab) was probably inevitable. The spirit of a decentralized p2p digital cash will live on regardless. I can't imagine Amaurycoin having any real value.

My number one hope is that there isn't a hardfork over this. BCH can only take so much forking... BSV was bad enough, we don't need this too.
I've been mining BTC and more recently BCH for a couple of years and I've been enjoying the incredibly low fees, sucks this guy will rather burn the project to the ground . I hope the community wins, will hate to stop using BCH

Everything you mention takes a backseat to badly needed infrastructure funding that the IFP will provide. An IFP that you originally thought was a good idea until the mob turned on you. If you would have stood up for your beliefs you could have helped unite everyone behind the IFP. Now you have to face the consequences that ABC is going to go their own way no matter what happens. Many of us believe ABC is what's most valuable about BCH and I think a small part of you understands that as well.
It is ok for people to change their minds. I now think the IFP is a horrible idea that is tearing the community apart.
And I think otherwise. I believe the IFP is the first big thing for BCH that will help it move forward. Cash Fusion has gone nowhere so far. SLP tokens have done nothing to increase adoption. Just about everything you've listed is a bunch of hobbyists having fun on their free time. SLP has been around for years and where has that gotten us? It's time to get real professionals building infrastructure on BCH. And the best way to do that is through the IFP. I know you've fought hard for economic freedom for a long time, and I believe that ABC enabling the IFP falls under the umbrella of economic freedom. ABC is the most technically capable team in all of BCH and it's time to let that team show what it can do with proper funding. Your own company has tried a lot of things but I can list a dozen projects that have not panned out Roger. I've even stopped using your wallet to introduce BCH to new people since it's so buggy now and not even open source. Your list above is just doing more of the same and we've already been there and done that. As a BCH whale, I wish you could get past your personal feelings and see that ABC really is our best hope of reaching our goals. If you don't believe me, please listen to Joannes Vermorel's presentation from the BCH fork day livestream. He brought up many valuable points and he's a founder and CEO like you.
The IFP pays Amaury. Who are these "real professionals" that it will bring to Bitcoin Cash who aren't already here? Most of the people working on BCH are already professionals. You have ironically called out the Bitcoin.com wallet as being buggy, but it's written by paid employees and contractors. In other words, it's written by professionals. Bitcoin ABC is not a new project. It's been around for a while as the dominant node implementation. BCH's so-called failure to achieve adoption lies, to a large degree, with Bitcoin ABC. Why mandate compensation for that failure?
Amaury isn't going to keep all $8m for himself. I'm sure we will hear more information over the coming months, but that money is supposed to help build BCH infrastructure, not just pay Amaury. And yes Bitcoin.com pays people but just because you pay people doesn't mean you will get the job done right. You still need the right people. My argument is ABC has proven themselves capable on the little funding they've had these past 3 years. I think it's time to allow them to have some real funding for more than 6 months at a time so they can plan for the future and make real advancements for BCH. That's all.
Amaury should have announced governance for his IFP along with the IFP announcement itself. If Amaury is going to give away all that money, then how will they have "enough"? AFAIK, ABC met all public funding request goals *until* they announced the original IFP. Only then did ABC have trouble obtaining funding when they asked for it.

Just take a look at the Grasberg abomination if you want some insight into their technical capability.. terrible code. They don't even backport very well, using it as an excuse to not scale Bitcoin Cash rather than as an enhancement. There is a reason why nearly all experienced software engineers other than ABC's team will say the same thing. It's not some big conspiracy. The obvious question if you don't have the capacity is: * Do I trust many people with no incentive to lie about this? * Or do I trust someone and their team who personally benefit to not lie about this? It's kind of obvious, but cult of personality goes a long way.

Comment from Reddit: I don't think many people realise how many things happen behind the scenes that you won't hear about on Telegram or Reddit. I know personally of several exciting projects that will be killed by a split. IFP Teamsters are pushing a total lie that there are "no other alternatives." Not true. Not remotely true. It's just that a lot of people building things and funding things are not active on Reddit, Twitter or Telegram. They don't need to participate in "the community" or justify their financial and business decisions to the IFP Teamsters. But it might be too little too late to correct course now. We will see. The IFP is brilliant from a certain point of view in that it forces a split if you disagree—and miners don't want that—and it allows a small committee of devs to get paid a small fortune no matter the actual price of the coin. As some of them have said, even if it goes down 90% or so it still makes sense for them. Can't talk someone down from that. If a split where two Bitcoin Cash coins survive next to eachother is the best outcome, that's not good enough and I would have to personally declare Bitcoin Cash a dead project.
Running infrastructure isn't as sexy as all these cool projects but if you build them on a weak infra it will ultimately backlash. It's concerning that this seems to not be well understood.

Lets add to the list above: CashAccount (and according to my count, 100% of all of the indexing servers) Fulcrum and Electrs (the backend servers for electron-cash) Insight (explorer and the backend for copay and derived wallets) BitcoincashJ (javascript library used by many of the native wallets for android) Bitbox SDK (probably the most used developing library for BCH webapps/websites) Bitcoin Unlimited (has more than half of the in-consensus nodes on the network) ... and a ton more of various libraries and tools. Our Infra was OK, but not GREAT. Then the IFP came around and to be honest, from that point it has degraded somewhat. Thankfully, since then a ton of infrastructure has been financially supported by other means and it looks to me like the infra might get to take that step from OK->GREAT in the coming 1~2 years.
Why would they burn bitcon when It's starting to grow year by year and people knowing it day by day. I've been farming btc/bch and any coins starting the pandemic and It's good because I'm not paying anything, just taking my time to farm.

In term of BTC, I don't say BCH is doing great exactly. Look at the market! BCH is now just a fraction of BTC, in fact 2.5%. Everyone putting money to BCH is actually losing money, so apparently saying it is doing great does not seem right. People say things need time, but it has been more than 3 years, and BCH is moving downward mostly, even when BTC fee is getting expensive again. I think the most fundamental thing is to fix the network split so that resources are more committed to the development and users and businesses will have a stable infrastructure to use. So far we are doing away with community funding, however community funding has inherent drawback: The crowd is always divisive, therefore developers will always divisive also when it comes to benefits, that is the number one reason leading to network split. Community funding is also not quite transparent. Someone can donate for themselves and call it a success, or under-table agreements... and mostly the funding is based on reputation and promises, not the actual work... It is better to look for alternatives...

Should I be worried? Looking to be a BCH miner as I have realized I prefer it over BTC. Wish I could be a merchant on this end of the globe. I know they are a few merchants but I would really like to see East Africa embrace Crypto (read BCH) more!
BCH works best for me. It is electronic cash that works. I pay my Direct tv bill with it , booked hotel rooms, made a poker night token that we use as cash for our games. The low fees and usability have made it possible for me to show people how crypto works and actually get them interested in crypto. BTC stinks. I really don’t understand why people want to put up with the fees. The other day we did a test with my BTC loving friend and I showed him it would cost $2.67 to send him $5. He didn’t care said BTC is king end of story. It was $0 to send $5 with Bitcoin Cash. Makes me sad that Bitcoin Cash doesn’t get the love it deserves. It’s the best electronic cash we have right now in my opinion.
