The most important space in the house or apartment is the bedroom. We spend about one-third of our lives here. Most of this time we have our eyes closed because we sleep. Therefore, one might think that we do not perceive our surroundings so intensely and that it is therefore not so important how the bedroom is furnished. Completely wrong!
Space to restore strength
The bedroom serves to restore strength and relaxation. This is a factor that is gaining more and more importance in our hot weather. If we are freshly rested and full of energy for a new day, we have a good foundation for coping with everyday challenges. In addition, we are in sleep without protection, so the harmony of this space has a very big impact on our well-being.
The bedroom should be clean, tidy and quiet
The bedroom must be clean, tidy and free of unnecessary things, as 'junk' reduces the flow of energy in the room. As a result, the energy in the room stagnates and because if it does not circulate, the room will get a "stationary" feeling. That’s why it’s important to regularly remove all the things you don’t need and don’t serve you from the bedroom. With the help of feng shui, you can make sure that your home will fill you with positive energy, which will certainly be reflected in many areas of your life. One of the places where thoughtfulness in furnishing is especially important is definitely the bedroom. Quality sleep or rest has an extremely large impact on health and well-being. It all starts with the correct placement of the bed. Feng shui experts believe that rather strict guidelines should be followed here…
Feng shui teaches that it is not good to have anything threatening or harmful overhead, and beams with their edges direct shar chi arrows around the room. Although beams are fashionable, feng shui advises against sitting, working or sleeping for a long time under the beams.
If possible, cover the beams with an artificial ceiling, and the alternative is to install bamboo flutes at a 45-degree angle on each side of the beam so that they are facing down and visit diagonally to each other, and revive them with red thread. This mitigates the harmful effects of the beam. Or install on a tram mobile or. wind chimes.
No hanging cabinets and shelves overhead
Hanging cabinets and bookshelves above the headboard have a similarly bad effect, as the effect is the same as with beams. If at all possible, move the bed out of such a space and close the hole with a solid curtain. However, if this is not possible due to lack of space, then hang bamboo flutes as with beams.
Have furniture with rounded edges
In general, in feng shui, it is considered wise to avoid all sharp angles.
Make sure you buy furniture with rounded edges, this is especially true for dressers and wardrobes that are next to the bed. Wardrobes should be closed when you sleep, because the edges of the shelves also create shar chi energy.
The lamps on the bedside tables should also be of soft round and rounded shapes.
Mirror, water and monitors do not belong in the bedroom
One of the taboos in feng shui is the reflection of the sleeping body in the mirror, as the mirror interferes with sleep. However, this can result in illness or poor partnerships. They say a mirror facing the bed brings a third person into the relationship, causing the couple to break up.
The solution is to cover the mirror with a piece of fabric or move it to the inside of the wardrobe.
Also, the TV and computer do not belong in the bedroom as they generate electromagnetic radiation that harms people. If you don’t have to give it up, then unplug it at night and cover the screen with a cloth.
Another taboo for bedrooms is the presence of water, aquariums or paintings with images of water. They say the presence of water in the bedroom can cause burglaries or financial losses, as water represents wealth and money for the Chinese.
When setting up the bed, the most important thing to consider is where the door is
When setting up a bed, we need to consider primarily where the door is. It is an ideal layout that allows us to see the door from the bed. However, this does not mean that the bed should be placed so that we are looking directly at the door, or in line with the door. Quite the opposite - if we follow feng shui, such a layout is even advised against. It is best that the bed is placed so that the door is visible, but it is placed diagonally to the headboard.
If it is not possible to see the door from the bed, it can fill us with the feeling that we are not really safe. This is usually a completely unconscious feeling, which can have a much stronger impact precisely because we are not aware of it. When the bed is set up so we can’t see the door, there’s a chance someone might enter the room without even noticing it, so we’re a little more restless all the time. All this, of course, negatively affects sleep. As mentioned, at the same time, it is not good to have the bed in line with the door, as this way we are more exposed. If we can see the door, it should be easier to see all the opportunities that life offers us, and at the same time we should be more open to positive energy.
Windows and walls are also important…
In addition to the position of the door, you also need to consider where the windows are. Feng shui experts advise against placing the bed just below the window. This is especially true for apartments on the ground floor. This, of course, is also related to the feeling of security - if the bed is very close to the window, the feeling of security is less, and at the same time the feeling of privacy, regardless of whether we use window blinds or not. This is not necessarily a "real danger", but unconscious feelings associated with certain bed layouts.
It is also important that the headboard is right next to the wall, as this gives us a feeling of greater stability. On the other hand, it is not good for any of the bed sides to lean against the wall. There should be at least a little space on each side, for example for a nightstand. This allows the free flow of energy, and at the same time is expected to affect partnerships - existing or future. If the bed is placed so that there is about the same space on each side, this can contribute to a more harmonious partnership.
What if there is not enough space in the bedroom?
Complications can otherwise occur with those who have very little space available for the bedroom. In such cases, it is difficult to avoid having one side of the bed next to the wall. In this case, you can help yourself by placing a mirror against the wall (you can do the same if it is not possible to place the bed so that you can see the door), but this solution is not optimal. If at all possible, then try to leave some space between the side of the bed and the wall, even if it’s only a few inches.
How to Feng Shui your bedroom - basic tips and rules
Ideally, the bedroom should have only a bed and two bedside tables. Couples should sleep on a double bed and not on one with two yogis, as this brings unstable relationships and can even lead to a breakup in the relationship between the partners.Ventilate the bedroom regularly, as fresh air greatly stimulates the creation of qi energy. Bad air and stench create bad vibrations that harm residents.
