Give us our daily bread.
“The Lord is close to everyone who calls out to him, to all who call out to him sincerely.”
Psalm 145:18
That title sounds familiar, right? That is part of a powerful prayer Jesus taught His disciples when they ask Him to teach them how to pray and so far in today's world, we have come to include such prayer into our lifestyles.
“Yesterday is history
Today is mystery
I'm just grateful for today.”
This was a song I listened to this morning while taking my morning devotion. We already spent yesterday and it has become a thing of the past while we are here today, hoping for the best even though we don't know what tomorrow might bring which is why it is a mystery. Something we don't know of. But it is amazing to always depend on and trust in God for the next day.
We only know of today because we are already in it and the best prayer is to say the Lord's prayer believing that we cannot do all on our own except God gives us the strength and ability. He is the source of everything.
How God has been providing for my daily needs is something I am still yet to understand but I am always grateful I get to eat and be provided with basic needs that are necessary for my growth. Do you think you have a Job and so you can get anything for yourself without realizing or understanding that it has been God?
The word of God says if it has not been God who builds the city, the labourers are doing it for nothing. If it has not been God who provided this platform and other earning sites for us, how do you think you would survive? Even if the platforms are existing, what if you don't have the strength or ability to write or grind, how do you expect to feed?
Sometimes, I get sad at some people who think it is their power of doing tasks that bring food to their table. The food we eat, God provides them. The water we drink, God gave to us. So, why don't you acknowledge that and keep showing gratitude for what you have?
This is another day and most people do not have anything to feed on while they are hoping for the best. Someone who hasn't eaten anything today will never brag about what to eat tomorrow. Do not think of the next day when you haven't seen the next minute today.
Giving us our daily bread doesn't mean bread alone but His provision. That starts with what we want to eat, drink and put on. Our basic needs come from God who is the sole provider and we would only come to the awareness that without His provision, we can't survive.
Perhaps some of us already ate something in the morning and afternoon, while we await dinner. Others haven't still decided on what to eat because they are still trusting in God which is the best thing to do. We all should remember that it is God who gives strength to be able to work and earn. Paul planted, Apollo watered but God gives the increase. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. So without God giving you strength and ability, you can do nothing on your own. Always remember that.
It's the end of the week already and we are grateful for what we could eat for the past six days. Even if you only ate a meal each day, be grateful because you are still better than someone who never ate anything and was forced to fast. It didn't come from their mind but they have no choice. Be grateful for what you have because others are wishing to have what you already have. When we are grateful for the little we have, God will always be pleased with our actions and would be willing to keep sending us our daily bread.
Finally, always trust God each day you wake up for your daily bread and in whatever you are doing, always remember without God strengthening you, everything you do is in vain. Show appreciation to the one who can give you the grace to work and earn some cash.
Thanks for your time.

Thank you for this reminders Princess. Sometimes when we are wanting more, we fail to be grateful.
