Many people believe being an expert guarantees them of safety forgetting the one who owns everything- God. When you have reached a stage where you feel proud of your achievement and conclude your hardwork has brought you there, then you are nothing. I have seen many people boasting of their achievements and forget who made them to be who they are but amount to nothing at end.
Yes, you are an expert. You achieved all things at the snap of your fingers. Everything you touched became gold for you. You travel everywhere across the world. You got the best family ever. You married the best wife or husband. You treated a patient and was healed. You made the best case in court and was given an award. Everyone kept praising you. You wrote an article and it was given the highest votes. Everything was working well for you without stress.
Oh! And what about that? Do you think you did all that? No, my dear, you didn't. You were only a product of Grace from God and not that you are expert.
My Aunt told me a story of a man where she worked some years back. This man would always pride in all things and believes he has power to control things until he said something to her. "Death can never come to me, I can control death. It's impossible for death to take me" My Aunt was just looking at him. Minutes later, she stood up to get something outside and by the time she returned, the man was struggling for his life on the floor. My Aunt quickly called everyone. They poured water on him and fortunately, he was alright.
When everyone had left, my Aunt faced the man and said "Sir, I thought you said death cannot kill you. This is just a sign from God and you should never brag about yourself". The man calmed down and since then didn't utter any statement of such.
He was tested with the careless word he said. No one should brag about himself or herself because you own not your life. God did.
Let me tell you something, If something should happen to you today and God allows it, it means your time is up.
We were going for our wedding yesterday and the Uber driver taking us was having an argument with my sis while I was listening to them. The man was claiming expert in driving and he can never have an accident. My sister had to tell her something I wanted to even chip into their discussion.
This also made me remember my previous article about accident happening on the road. I said if drivers should obey the rules in driving, nothing will happen but do you know you can be sure of the condition of your car or bus and even obey the rules but still have an accident?
Yes, even if you think you are an expert in everything, don't forget there will always be an implicator. Someone will implicate you anywhere. The driver was calmed when he heard such statement.
This is why I pray this way whenever I am going out.
God, don't let me see who will implicate me.
God, whatever will make me believe everything I have today is by my hardwork or power, never allow it.
We need to understand that it is God who knows everything. He can decides to make things work for you immediately or wait for the right time.
Take a look at the rich man in the Bible who thought everything he had was as a result of what he has done and his power, that same night, God took his life.
"It is not of him that willeth or runneth but of God who shows Mercy". Romans 9:16
Do not be proud of your achievement. Do not boast in anything when you know you didn't make it happen. God did. It is not your strength or being expert that has brought you where you are, God did.
Do not rely on your own understanding at all because if you do, you will be disgraced and brought down. Always understand that everything with you today is as a result of God's grace over you.
I was just looking at the driver yesterday and shaking my head because I want to believe his ignorance made him say so. Let's just always pray not to encounter those who would implicate us.
Thank you for reading
No one should really boast of this or her achievement. People whom everything have ever gone smoothly for right from the start would see no need to reference God.
This brings me to say that our challenges could be a pointer to what and whom we need to seek and God at times permit certain challenges to come our way to enable us open our eyes to somethings and rely on him to a point we are able to say
" our sufficiency is of God"
