McQuaid sat on the bed in his suite, often standing impatiently to look out the window. Stryker hadn't called and wasn't picking calls. Even though he didn't want to believe that the little girl could have killed such a fairly high-profile assassin, she had shown considerable ability in her execution of the other three.

Her thirst for vengeance is unquenchable, he mused, fear entering his thoughts.

But whatever the outcome, this was the end of the road for her.

Suddenly his ringtone went off, and the Caller ID displayed it was Stryker.

"What took you so -" he started but was cut off quickly.

"This is Detective Hopkins of the QWPD," a lazy voice drawled on the other end, "who am I speaking with?"

"You called, excuse me. What are you doing with Stry'''I mean, this man's number," he said, suddenly remembering that he was about to disclose his affiliation with a wanted assassin.

"Well, whoever you are. I may need to ask you quite some questions regarding the owner of this phone, who was just found now, burned alive. We managed to extinguish the flames, but he was already dead. The phone was recovered in..."

He ended the call instantly as the stark realization hit him.

That monster was on the loose and was coming for him. Was probably already...

Quickly, he dashed out of the room, abandoning all his belongings as he scrambled into the elevator. Once down, he glanced around the lobby properly before dashing out of the hotel and into the parking lot, where a chaperone stood, looking for anyone to drive.

"Take me to the Police Office, now," he said, throwing a huge wad of notes which the chaperone caught rather clumsily. The chaperone seemed shy, failing to look him in the eye.

What the hell's wrong with you? Haven't seen a rich billionaire before? He thought.

They both got into the car and were soon on the road. He heaved a sigh of relief "Urgh, thank God!"

The car swerved to the side of the road and parked, surprising him.

"Thank God indeed, for delivering you into my hands stress-free," the chaperone said in a voice that sounded feminine... and very familiar.

Praying against the worst, he peered closer to see the cold grey eyes of Caroline Evans, her gun leveled at his chest.

"It is impossible to run away from me," she said dryly.
