11. Lake Tonle Sap
Tonle Sap is the most important waterway in Cambodia and the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. The lake is an important source of food and a vital tool for irrigating Cambodia. It has 170 floating villages that depend on fishing, and houses are built directly on the water.
The houses, shops, churches, schools and temples of these villages are built on the lush rural foundations of bound barrels and bamboo, and all transport is carried out by boat. They are an exciting place to spend the day exploring.
One of the most interesting is the sprawling village of Kompong Luong , near the town of Pursat on the west bank of the Tonle Sap, although the most popular village to visit is Chong Knee near Siem Reap.
12. Sambor Prey Cook
This pre-Angora temple dates back to the early 7th century, when it was the capital of the Upper Chenli Empire. Here in the forest sit more than 100 brick temples dedicated to various Hindu gods, many half-swallowed by the roots of mammoth trees.
Archaeologically, this place is extremely important, containing some of the oldest surviving buildings in Cambodia, but you don't have to be an archeology enthusiast to appreciate the ethereal beauty of this fenced tree.
The most important temples in the area are Prasat Sambor , Prasat Tao, and Prasat AP, all of which have extremely clear carvings on the temple walls and a host of ethereal atmosphere provided by twisted tree trunks and twisting vines. You can access Sambor Prey Cook from Kompong Thom.
When is the best time to visit Cambodia?
Most visitors who come to Cambodia go to the temples of Angkor Wat as their main destination - so it makes sense that the best time to visit Cambodia is when the temples are at their best. The weather, the best time to visit Siem Reap and Angkor Wat, is the period from December to February, when the temperature drops to the high 20s and the humidity is low enough to be tolerable.
However, these months are part of the cool season, which is also the high season in the country - which means higher prices, more crowds and more expensive tickets. For better prices and a slightly smaller crowd, consider arriving in March or early April - while the temperature is rising rapidly at this time, the rainy season is just beginning, so you can still enjoy nature.
In Phnom Penh, the weather is hot and humid throughout the year, with only a slight drop in temperature and humidity falling to about 70 percent during the cool season. This is also a good time to visit Ko Rong, the best beach in Cambodia.

I didn't know there is a village like that in Tonle Sap in Cambodia. I guess I was focused more on the ruins and temples when I was searching for places to go in Cambodia.
