Back To Where She Started...Worse Off.
No one can tell you the truth more than you should tell yourself. This is the story of Leah who knew she wasn't ready for marriage but everyone in her life seemed to think she is. It's hard when you have the traditional kind of parents who want to have everything figured out about your life and would even jump the gun for you when you prove incapable.
Leah had to run away from home by picking up a job in another city so she can avoid her mother's constant song about getting married. She once told Leah that she was wasting her beauty away if she won't make hay while the sun shines. Leah knew what she wanted and wouldn't just go with any guy because people said so. She was taking her time but her parents were in charge of the clock.
It has been a while since she visited home and she took it upon herself to honour her mother's invitation to come home after several turndowns. She left work early that Friday and decided to head home. Her mother waited till she was certain that she would come home before she set the ball rolling on her plans. She had already given her measurement to the fashion designer who would help her carve her native attire. Leah didn't know she was walking into her Introduction to Marriage - where both families would have to get to know each other and pick a date for the wedding.
The choice was taken completely away from her but she didn't know what she was walking into. She got home late that Friday and went straight to bed. She was woken up by her little sister and mother who told her to get dressed and she was given the native attire to wear. She was confused as she wasn't told they would be attending any wedding until her sister told her it was her introduction and her in-laws would soon arrive.
Sleep completely went off her face and she screamed and shouted. She did all sorts until her father stepped in and spoke with her. She was unhappy because she didn't even know who the guy is. After she dressed up, that was when she asked her little sister who the groom is. Jackson is their family friend and he has asked her out several times but met a brick wall. Jackson went straight to Leah's mother to make his intentions known and that was how Leah's mother took it upon herself to plan the life of her child.
The introduction took place and the wedding date was fixed. Leah tried to get to know him during that courtship phase because the wedding and all Jackson was, was to be sweet to Leah. They got married and that was when Leah saw what she was in for. Jackson is the type of man that thinks a woman doesn't have a say. You just have to do what he says and no questions must be asked.
She already transferred to the state her parents live since that's where her husband also resides. The official car they gave Leah at work was taken over by the husband. Leah had to lie times without numbers that the car was faulty or she parked in another place since their office car park is always crowded. Jackson went to Leah's mother to discuss with her that he has a landed property which he hopes to develop so she and Leah can move in together into a house of their own. The mother called Leah straight away and told her to always support her husband with money for the building of the house.
Every month she would give money to her husband but every time she asked to go to the house to see the progress, Jackson would turn it into a fight until she stopped asking. It went on for a long time until one day she took time off work without telling Jackson. Jackson thought she had gone to work but she waited around to see where her husband would go. He didn't only drive her office car to the bar where he was with friends and other ladies, it was in that instant she knew Jackson didn't even have a job. She made sure she walked by so Jackson can see her and he saw her. He stood up and dragged her to the side before they both headed home.
She confronted him and he confessed to lying about his job because he was laid off just a month before their wedding. She asked him about the landed property because if he could have lied about that, she wasn't certain there are other things he wasn't lying about. He confessed also that there was no landed property. So, he has been using her money to drink and go around with ladies.
Who will she tell her story to? She was already 5 months gone with pregnancy. She summoned the courage to go to work that day and by the time she came back, she noticed the house was empty as Jackson had not only packed out of the house, he had taken away most of the gadgets and other things in the house. Leah didn't even stress herself, she picked up some of her clothes, left the house and went straight to her father's house.

It is really important to know a person deeply especially when planning to get married. It's like it's Leah's job to work and earn for her husband while the other act like a teenager.
