Everyone in Nigeria knows that the country has been in recession for years, making many Nigerians adopt various survival tactics. One of such is learning how to avoid billing in Nigeria. Nigeria's economy has been bad for years, making living costs high. It is now becoming almost difficult to make ends meet, hence the need to cut off from unnecessary billing.

Yet it might seem hard to cut off from all the unnecessary billing if you are a Nigerian. However, in this article, we have highlighted how you can reduce your expenses on billing.

Firstly, what is billing?

Billing is a term that represents different contexts. The term can mean optional incurred charges that are insignificant and often come suddenly. However, the term represents how customers get money and how their products or services are discharged in business.

When individuals or any business organization tracks their incomes and expenditures daily, it is called billing.

What types of Bill do you need?

Yes, as Nigerians, we all can't avoid bills. We have to pay for phone bills, light bills even taxes. However, we tend to spend too much on unnecessary bills. I will show you how you can avoid unnecessary bills.

How to avoid billing in Nigeria.

Some ways to avoid unnecessary bills in Nigeria include:

1. Compile a list of the expenses you incur every month and prioritize them.

When you decide to save, the first step is to thoroughly examine all the expenses you incur and how you spend your money.

Make a list of the amount you need to settle each bill, including the time frame, how long it is valid, and how much the total bills will cost. You can then prioritize which bills can be cut out or reduced without causing problems.

2. Cut-off from unnecessary expenses.

If you have to, use a cheaper internet service provider, use a lower data plan, or even downgrade the plan on your cable TV. You can also shop for household items from local stores.

Having forehand knowledge of managing and cutting your expenses is an excellent way to save money and know how much you spend every month.

3. Figure out your rights as a consumer in Nigeria.

As customers, you have rights. For instance, as an electricity consumer, you have rights to a safe and reliable electricity supply; and it is the responsibility of the service providers to repair any damages to the transformers.

You have different rights as an electricity consumer; you have to figure out and understand all your rights if you want to avoid billing in Nigeria. Find out the amount of electricity you consume daily and estimate the bill accurately.

4. Consider buying second-hand products.

Purchase used or second-hand goods instead of purchasing new things when trying to avoid billing in Nigeria. Buying second-hand products can be a huge help in cutting off your expenses, but some people might be overly selective towards some household items. However, there is no need to spend too much when there are different affordable options.

Some families have been using second-hand items because they are affordable at their fair market prices compared to the cost they will incur if they purchase brand new. However, this does not mean you should purchase any item you see.

5. Find out if you are suitable to receive tax exemption from the government.

Determining if you are eligible to receive tax exemptions can help you save money. The government introduced a bill to allow individuals who are recipients of full-time education, below the age of 16, citizens above 55 years old, and pregnant women to enjoy tax exemption.

Hence, find out if you fall under these categories to avoid billing in Nigeria.

Conclusion.

The country's current economic condition is very bad. You can't afford to have a fallout with your resources. Hence, find ways to manage your resources and avoid billing in Nigeria. Do you have any ways or advice on how to avoid billing? Kindly drop it in the comments section.

Another way of cutting billing is by staying indoors (at least for me 😩). I discovered anytime I go out to have fun, I spend way more than if I just stayed at home. One thing I recently do these days is to put myself on a monthly budget, then I try to manage the money allocated to that month, it works like magic 😁

Lol, going out alone can ruin a person's bank account, you will tell yourself you won't spend, but even you know that is a lie.

That’s why we always say SHORA FUN BILLING. We have to be careful nowadays in Nigeria as the standard of living of people are too low.

Having rights doesn't really work for us in Nigeria, maybe other developed countries but certainly not Nigeria. I claimed my rights with the crazy bill they gave me, they came to cut my light instead. When you claim rights in Nigeria, they see it as a threat and they turn it around. Do I have that time and resources to start dragging it with them legally? It's a crazy country we are in but I can relate to your points.

I agree with that, especially the Nepa bill issue; when you try to state facts with them, they will start antagonizing and putting the situation backward like you are not paying the bills.

In Nigeria, we beg the government to render the essential services that we pay for.

Regardless of country's economy, everyone should adopt many points mentioned here as recyling of existing products is very important and is a need of the house

Well said dear. Nigeria seems to be getting worse daily as the sun goes down. These highlights are really important but when it comes to rights, Human rights are highly abused in Nigeria. I also think Nigerians should also be a little aggressive in fighting for their rights. The government steals from them in so many ways

Yeah, It is important that we fight for our rights because we are citizens of the country not slaves.

Same here in our country, life gets tougher because of the prices of basic needs were soaring high.I mist say that in order to reduce our billing,we .make out tv time lesser than the usual and turn of the electronics when it's not needed.

Second hand products? Yeah, I agree with this but not when it comes to 'fragile' electronics such as phones. Sometimes, those say in school, we bought some household tools that lasted well.

Yeah, buying second-hand tools is better, and they sometimes last longer than first rate ones.
