My Grandma and her brilliant Student. (2)
I want to use this opportunity to appreciate everyone who had read, upvoted and commented on my article. Wholeheartedly i'm saying thank you from here.
This is the continuation of what i posted yesterday about my grandma and her brilliant Student "Clara".
CONTINUATION
In the previous article, i had told you Grandma said, Clara was a very brainy student with distinct intellectual capacity, i told you she had won prizes for her school at both State and National level, but very painful that while she was preparing for her promotion examination (Junior WAEC) into senior secondary school, she lost her parents same day to a catastrophic Accident.
How she lost her parents.
The Principal speaking now.........
On that fateful day, we had just finished morning assembly, every student had marched into their various classes, the teachers were already going to teach the first subjects for the day, i was still discussing with two vice principals about some strategies we would utilise for the betterment of our students as well as the school. There we were, and a Call came in, i looked at my phone, it was a strange number. Hmmmm! Who could be calling me? So, i picked, what i was hearing were noises, then a tiny voice of woman saying "Ma!!!! This is the mother of Rashidat in JSS1, have you had? Ahhhh!!😢😢, Two people that brought their daughter to your school this morning, as they were driving back, a long Lorry failed brake and hit them, they've been rushed to the nearest hospital, i pray they survive it oh, because it's much, i just want to inform you", and she ended the call.
To cut the long story short, Clara was informed, and she cried rivers out of her eyes! I pitied her.
Her extended family had Meeting.
The extended family of Clara had meeting on how she would be taken care of. Her uncle (immediate younger brother to her late Dad) promised and said "I will take of care of her very well, she will never suffer any lack under my roof, i'm ready to train her to any length of her academic career, just let me manage the properties her parents had left". These were the statements made by the uncle at the family meeting. So, everyone agreed she would be going to there, to start living with them. After a few months, her late Parents' properties were so out.
Clara in her uncle's house.
She has gotten there, they were treating her fine like their own child, they bought same clothes for her and their daughter. She was given time to do what she had interest in, and she was happy. Everywhere was looking good, and everything was going on fine, until the result of their promotion exams came out. The result showed Clara made distinctions in all her papers, while their own daughter only made some credits. She was far behind Clara in terms of academic performance. After this, jealousy set in, she observed a sharp change in their attitudes towards her, they began to hate her. Well, the little girl wasn't concerned, until they began to frustrate her. Early in the morning, they would pack plenty clothes outside and say "Clara you must finish washing this clothes, before going to school, and you must not use washing machine, we want you to use your hand". She would wash and wash, and start crying 😭, imaging a teenager turned to a washwoman. She missed school most time, sometimes they would not give her breakfast and tell her to go to school like that. They told her not to tell anybody what was happening, that if she tell anybody that they would kill her.
One day, she was in the school and her stomach was empty, she has not eaten that day, suddenly her eyes turned and she fainted. "....Clara has fainted ohhh, her classmates were crying and shouting simultaneously....! Teachers began to wake her up, it took time before they could successfully wake her up. After this, she was fed, and the principal asked her what she had been passing through, she didn't want to say because she was afraid of her uncle not to kill her. She was pet and finally spoke out and explained everything.
This got the principal furious, and she reported the case to the government, good steps where taken by the government, in the sense that, Clara was taken from his uncle. The Principal (my Grandma) kept contributing much to her progress, development, and betterment.
Clara triumphed at last.
Clara finished her secondary school excellently, she was the best graduating student the school produced that year. She gained admission into University of Ibadan to study Mechanical Engineering, graduated with First Class, finished as best graduating student in her department. She got job with a "Multinational Petroleum company".
Now the Uncle and his wife are back begging and saying it was Satan's work. She said he has forgiven them, they meant bad for her but God made it good!!

Although I didn't read the first part, I'm still glad with how the story ends. I'm happy that Clara finish her secondary. Her braveness, and perseverance despite the tragedy remain for her study and I was really amazed how clara forgive her uncle, she was really a great person.
