Grandma turns eighty-five today!
March 7, 2020
Growing up, I had only one grandma who really witness how curious and clumsy I am as a kid. I was not the first grandkid and I was never her favorite since I prefered to stay by mom's side during my childhood days. However, we spend weekends at her home watching "Wansapanatym and Nginig". My grandma would set up a mat in front of the television so the three of us can just lay down while drowning ourselves in the fantasy.
Grandma was also the one who introduced us to champorado or the chocalate porridge. Everyday at 3pm, she has such food on the table sweet and still hot. It really solved and satisfy our hungry stomachs. But still, our other cousin would still demand soft drink and bread to be bought at the local store. Our grandma being the loving and generous grandma of all would allow us to have softdrinks with bread even after eating champorado.
Our hard work at school was not out in vain too for grandma will buy our medals and place it at the altar. She used to buy the quiz papers that we had from elementary. During college, she would secretly hand us allowance just like any other grandparents do. Lately, she paid an amount of money intended for thanksgiving mass as she said she promised to have it if I will pass the LET. The problem is I already passed the LET three years ago, and she already had fulfilled her promise. Sadly, her memory now starts to fail her that is why she keep on doing same things multiple times.
Grandma is a worker. She works at the farm for most of her life. She never had another life other than what is like at the farm. Even when she is already old, you can still see her climbing up the mountain to plant some crops like she would never live if she fails to do that. Her children already prohibit her fr doing so but she can't seem to break her habit. She is not the type of grandma that stays at home. She would always have something to do.
She is the only woman who is still alive among her siblings. The two men are in Manila for some medical reasons. She is eighty-five today and we thank God that she is still kicking and is lively as she can be. She has health problems too but still she managed to keep herself happy. She enjoys a lot of things and seeing her grandkids is the topmost thing that makes her heart happy that is why we make sure to visit her on our free time or even once a week.
Our grandma doesn't eat chicken and anything with egg but still she buys those for the sake of her grandkids as food is the other reason why we are gathered together.
