Four years ago, I got a chance to participate in Regional Tertiary School's Press Conference RTSPC. It was February 2017 when I first set foot in Calbayog, Samar for the said three-day workshop and training.
I can't remember all the details regarding that journey but I will try to rekindle my memories using the pictures I have in my phone.
I was a second year student back then, our school publication was short of writers. If there were available, it is either they can't travel because of their health or because of their busy schedules. I, on the other hand has less responsibilities back then so our editor asked me to join them. There were six of us. Though, I wasn't confident enough about my writing skills, still I gave it a try and I did leap for joy because of excitement.
I tried to copy some photos from my laptop but I just found out that it doesn't charge anymore. Before, I can still use it if I charge it but tonight, I have found a new problem.
Back to the topic...
The RTSPC 2017 was held at Christ the King College at Calabayog, Samar. I can't remember the exact date but it was on the month of February.
These are my two friends, Jay (holding the camera is the editor-in-chief of the school pub of our sister school) while Rhomnick was my classmate and a very good writer. The three of us enjoy the company of each other or maybe because Jay somehow likes Rhomnick and they had me as a bridge of their love affair. lol.
Our writer and cartoonist took a pose as we arrange and settle things for our stay. It was me and my editor at the back.
Meanwhile, I saw thus musical instrument by the hotel lobby. I don't know its name. If you happen to know it, please do comment below.
Our cartoonist drew some scene right here while listening to the lecture or did she get bored by the lecture? lol. Which is which?
The guy wearing white polo is our editor-in-chief. This photo was taken when we were looking for nice subjects for photo journalism.
The most important paper that we should never lose. Misplace it and you will starve to death unless you pay for your own meals. That would be expensive and hassle.
The most important and unforgettable part of the trip is listening to their music. This is the CKC - Chrisg The King College Orchestra playing the song "Versace on the Floor" and more. It is so relaxing to be there and I feel very proud to have been a witness as they showcase their talent. My heart was really moved and I can't stop my tears from falling. After the three days of arduous paperworks and training, we were calmed by this. There were a lot of handsome lads there too.
Bonus! Thank God, I won. I got the chance to be in one frame with my crush Anthony Q. Esguerra from Inquirer and Ed Lingao who is a veteran journalist.
My groupmates won too! Jiceryl, wearing white top and jacket placed second for news writing while Ariel, the man in gray polo- shirt won placed first in desktop publishing.
The original plan was for me to compete in the Feature Article category which come true but I had few extra time to join the Copy Reading and Headline Writing category. I joined because of curiosity and boredom but I ended up holding the third's place. I was astonished and thankful then. I couldn't count how much God has been so faithful to me.
You may have wondered why I got that award when I'm not good in writing here but know that I agree with you too. I don't know how I did it perhaps it is all because of grace.
How about you? How did grace manifests in your life today?
Until then! Thanks for reading!
You are a good writer, don't say you aren't. ;) Congrats on the award!
