Day 28: Loving Someone
June 13, 2022
Loving is someone's fear. I'm not talking about loving a family member or a friend. I'm about loving someone romantically. This may be due to the history of their love life. They may have been through traumatic experiences that lead them to develop trust issues and doubt about the power of love. Some people are products of failed relationships, failed marriages and the list goes on.
This just goes to show that loving someone isn't just about fairytales. For other people, it is their biggest fear. They have built strong and sturdy walls to protect themselves, barely allowing anyone to disturb their long-protected peace. Some of them grew bitter in life and love that they cringe whenever they see and witness a winning love story. Some of them even curse heaven and predict the fall of that winning relationship.
Our perceptions about loving someone vary. To some, it is a wonderful feeling-one which sways you like you are in a cloud-9. Loving someone is easy peasy for them. For others, it is tiring and sacrificial. Loving someone costs them a lot. But they still hold on and clinging on to that little hope.
Loving someone isn't all beautiful. Even God sacrificed for the sake of love. Sacrifice in the name of love is evidence that love dominates and makes the world go round just like money. It is essential. We can't fathom how a battered way stays under one roof with a drunkard husband. We can't comprehend how a woman wanted to get married to her boyfriend who's a cancer patient. Love is indescribable. Loving someone isn't something we can explain. It just happens and sometimes we don't notice it.
Loving someone feels like heaven especially if you fell in love with the right person in the right time of your life. We just have to wait for the right person and the right timing. Then, the sacrifices caused by loving would all be worth it. Sometimes, we just have to be willing to fall without parachutes. Sometimes, we need to stop working to make higher walls. Loving entails showing your vulnerable side. Loving entails accepting that we need someone to be with us. To add some color and hues in our already colorful life.
How about you? What's your take on loving someone?
