So Glad to Finally Find a Breastfeeding Station at SM Seaside
I can't remember if I had shared before that I had a hard time finding a breastfeeding station in Ayala Center in Cebu a few months ago when we were visiting the said mall.
In our constitution, public places are mandated to have a breastfeeding station but sad to say that not all malls or public areas have this. When we visited Ayala, I was confident that they have one but I was disappointed because when I inquired at Rustan's, they mentioned it to be unavailable now and that they referred me to the comfort room.
My baby who was just a year and three months at that time weren't comfortable, he was looking at the ceiling and then the corners of the small cubicle and he was about to cry so I told him to just latch, and then we will go out. It didn't take a while and he stopped latching as if telling me that he's done and that's not how he latches, I know my baby would take time, would even twiddle with the other nipple but he didn't even care and just stopped.
I knew that he was uncomfortable and so we just went out.
A few days ago, when we visited SM Seaside, I didn't expect to find a Breastfeeding Station. Matti is already turning two years old in three months and he is not asking for the breast when we are in a mall, at least, I get him full of food and another form of liquid so he won't ask when we are out.
But because I accidentally bumped into this station, I decided to check it out and see what's in there.
I pushed the door handle and went in together with Matti. This is not just a breastfeeding station but also a mall clinic. Now pardon me for the blurry image, I was in a hurry to take the photo.
Upon entering, there's a separate section for the clinic nurse or doctor perhaps. There was a person inside but he or she didn't mind that someone was coming in, perhaps they are already used to someone getting inside. I went to the breastfeeding station which is another area with a separate door.
I had no more time to read the basic house rules thoroughly, I just had my eyes scroll into the words and found that this is mainly for breastfeeding, and changing of diapers was not allowed.
Logging of the breastfeeding mother's name is required too for monitoring purposes. As I went in, I saw some wheelchairs on the side, there were also some oxygen tanks and then the seats with pink curtains.
I believe there were at least three cubicles for each mother. There's a mini refrigerator that is needed for those who are pumping moms so they can store their breastmilk. It's nice actually and I truly appreciate that there's one in SM Seaside plus it is located near the parking area.
There's a sink too, by the way, and the logbook is just located beside a comfortable chair. I didn't log my name because we were just checking out the place.
I might be using this place in the future so it is nice that I already have an idea where the station is located. I will tell you more about it in the future once I get to use the facility.
Kudos to the management of SM Seaside Cebu City for this. I wonder where the breastfeeding station in SM Cebu too. I might go breastfeeding station hunting in the different malls in Cebu, that's a great topic too and I can try to compare them because searching online, there are only a few blogs about it and most of them are already outdated.
That's all for today. Thanks for reading!
