Remembering the Good on Friday with Fish, Mango, and Balloons
It's Good Friday! And as Christians, it is a day commemorating the event that had changed the world. Some of us might have little to no idea why it is called Good Friday. I had asked that too before and if you are one of those who had asked about it as well, remember that the son of God came to live a perfect life, he was crucified and died on a cross to cancel our debts, this is stated in Colossians 2:14.
Whenever I meditate on this, the very picture I get was how the veil was torn in two in the temple. It was torn from top to bottom, this was no ordinary veil as it was a thick one where only the high priest of Israel can go inside, anyone unclean will die if he attempts to go inside but on the day Jesus died, on that specific moment, the veil was torn into two. This means that the separation was canceled, we can all come to the Father because of what Jesus did on the cross. We can go directly and call Him our Abba, Father.
It is a Good Friday because that's the best thing that had happened in the world's history.
Anyway, I hope you guys were able to reflect on today's event. Why is it being celebrated and how is it significant to your life. Resurrection Sunday is coming and we commemorate that too! Note though that this event happened once and we only commemorate it, what Jesus did on the cross was once and for all enough.
What happened today though? We bought some fish for lunch. These are really fresh and were just handed to the vendor a few minutes from being caught in the sea so you can see how fresh these fishes are by just looking at the eyes.
I wish we had kinilaw but it was tedious so they all ended up fried. Then Matti slept in the morning, he was looking like this while sleeping after an hour of latching.
One of the problems I encounter when I have red days is that my milk supply is low. So during these days, Matti would just latch and latch that sometimes it's just too tiring. Breastfeeding takes an enormous amount of energy and I blame it for my good appetite, haha.
Our plan was to go to Cuartel and spend the afternoon there so the kids could run around. Matti's cousin, Ate Zia came and visited us. She is the daughter of my husband's brother and is one week older than Matti but this young lady is already acting like she's way older than Matti. She's able to talk and utter words well compared to Matti, perhaps because of her environment too where she has a lot of people surrounding her while with Matti, it's just me and his papa almost all the time.
Anyway, upon reaching Cuartel, it was obvious that there are already a lot of people around. Most of them were resting on the benches while listening to the mass happening as the church is just right opposite it.
We looked for a spot to sit on while we let the kids roam around. My sister-in-law told us about her husband who is on a ship for an off-shore project but unfortunately, they have to end the project because there were Chinese Coast Guards ships that have been following them in their exploration.
My brother-in-law's company surveys areas that have oils and this one that they were surveying is part of the West Philippine Sea. However, for several days since their sail, the Chinese vessels have been following their ship and would demand that they cease their operation.
So, the project has to end, they can't proceed with the survey as so he has to be assigned somewhere which extends his contract.
I brought along with our water and some snacks. My husband was just busy taking videos and pictures of the kids. We are planning on traveling back to the city on Saturday so we will not see each other until election day which is just a few weeks from now.
I was looking around and found an apple mango vendor. I told my husband that I want to eat mangoes but the sister-in-law commented that's a sour type, I still went and bought two but asked the vendor to choose a ripe one. Unfortunately, it still was very sour so I just brought it home instead.
We found out as well that the beach here has rich underwater life! Just right at the shoreline, we could see big fishes swimming. They were big enough to be good to be grilled! Lol! They actually made us hungry! It was relaxing to see the fishes though swimming here and there.
Now, as we were about to go home as the sun was already setting and the kids had enough running, there was a balloon vendor around the area and we heard a kid crying from a distance, the little girl thought her parents won't buy her one but they did and so her cries were turned into smiles.
And yes, you got it right, Matti and Ate Zia also got their balloons. Each piece was worth Php 95! This was Matti's first time having a balloon and he was so delighted as it floats. We just have to make sure to hold it well because it might fly away.
Matti calls it memo and we all laughed as he can't utter the name Nemo for now. Ate Zia choose the horse design and we all went home happy.
And for our dinner, we were able to pass by a vendor who was surrounded by customers and we found out she was selling big tuna fish, we bought two pieces, got it grilled and boy, it was the best! Our dinner was solved plus we watched some episodes of the Netflix show Old Enough, it was the cutest!
P.S.
Thanks dear @LykeLyca for the sponsorship!
How was your Good Friday guys?
