The theme of this retrospection is health and illness, what they are and how we perceive them. Perhaps you'll see them differently after reading this.

I have posted a large number of articles in various ways related to different aspects of health, but it would become too much if we bring up all of them here today. Let's focus on health paradigms, ways to think of health and illness.

It is important how think of health because our thoughts determine how we handle it. I want to challenge some contemporary health paradigms, which is reflected in several of my articles related to health.

Suicide is not Painless was one of my first health articles at Read.cash. What I want to say with it is that degenerative disease (such as cancer & cardiovascular disease) is a slow suicide if you do not refrain from doing what you know contribute to its development. And, as a suicide, it is entirely caused by you.

The consequences of this view are profound. If you adhere to a religion banning suicide – which is most consistently done in Islam – everything potentially harmful is forbidden. (You can see more on how suicide is seen in different cultures in The Attitude to Suicide in some Major Religions – A Brief Survey.)

The article continues with Better Health - How to Begin, which offers some advice on how to escape the bad habits leading straight to degenerative disease. Some steps anyone can apply immediately.

Then we have three articles explaining often occurring questions: constipation, and why salt and sugar are harmful.

Constipation, Very Common and Much More Dangerous than People Tend to Believe

Why Salt Destroys Your Health - and Why People Like It

Why Refined Sugar Destroys You

Two articles about walking, the exercise nobody should be without.

Benefits of Walking - Beyond Those of Walking as a Physical Exercise

Three articles about things often treated wrong in contemporary society – also by medical professionals: how fever might be your best defence, how your immune system needs training to work properly, and why the use of antibiotics ought to be limited. These articles can change your view of illness, especially infections, and how they should be treated.

Do not try to bring down fever, it might be your best friend

Antibiotics & Side-Effects of Antibiotics

What do you know of about oxygen and antioxidants? We need oxygen to live, but oxygen also kills us. It's not so simple as many believe. Read Oxygen: Life & Death – A Balanced View on Antioxidants

Speaking of oxygen, do you know how to breath efficiently? Correct breathing is essential for optimal health. Read about that in Don't Turn Your Nose Up At Your Nose – The Art of Breathing Right.

For what diet are we genetically adapted? Some people claim that the food eaten at the Stone Age, a Palaeolithic diet, is the ideal. I disagree; I consider it too modern(!) Our genetics are not yet adapted even to that. Read why in Some Thoughts on a Palaeolithic Diet

I will not discuss articles about individual dietary supplements in this retrospection, but I think Why Dietary Supplements are Needed belongs here. It is a survey over why contemporary food can never suffice nutritionally.

More on the ideal diet: Two Important Points on Diet & Health. Eat living food, and eat too little.

Should we eat a varied diet, or should we keep a monodiet (eating only one sort of foodstuff)? The answer appears obvious, but if looking at it a little deeper, it is not all that obvious any longer. Learn why in Monodiet or Varied Diet? Multinutrition or Serial Variation?

Learn what germinal food is and why it is extremely nutritious: Germinal Food = Superfood.

In today's world, no superstition is greater than the belief in the miracle of medical drugs. In this article, I also discuss why many doctors are approaching patients and illness in the wrong way. Medicine, Modern Superstition & Flawed Paradigms

Symptoms are not always leading us straight to the root cause of an ailment; they can be quite misleading. I think they often are. Healthcare professionals treat symptoms, while often failing to find the root cause. So, why would we need medical detectives? I tell you why and illustrates if with a true story from my own life. Deceptive Symptoms - A True Story

One can see the body as a pipe, with an inner and an outer surface. The number of micro-organisms living on these two surfaces are higher than the number of cells in the human body. It's important who they are; their composition is of tremendous importance for health. Read more in The Body's Inner & Outer Surface (and its inhabitants)

In my opinion, The Feminisation of Nature is the single greatest threat to human survival. It might very well exterminate the human species within a few generations. Read how and why in this article.

Incidentally, I sometimes get questions about the title “Suicide is not Painless” (the first mentioned article above). It is a play with words, based on the title of the theme to M.A.S.H. (once a popular TV-series), called Suicide is Painless. https://youtu.be/v605dDOO-Dw

My series “Retrospection” is primarily created for new readers of mine, as a manual into my production at this platform so far - but it can be read by anyone who wants to explore my articles topic by topic, rather than doing so in chronological order. In addition to that, my retrospections contain new comments and from time to time short personal stories connected to the relevant topic or topics.
