Must Be The Money!
Matters about money are just so hot, treacherous and deadly. It can destroy families, friendships, relationships, businesses, etc. Actually, money is not the problem, but rather man’s greed and desperation to acquire something - a need or a possession. The things we desire badly creates urges that, if we lose control, can eventually destroy us.
There is actually nothing wrong in wanting money, because most things in this world have monetary value, and we are all programmed to earn, spend and save in this lifetime. Sad, but true. However, despite this dilemma, we have to keep reminding ourselves about morality, and balancing our judgements about money and how we get them.
I was reminded of this quote I read on Facebook perhaps a couple of months ago. It might hold some truth for some people to commit crimes and evil deeds, but this should not be an excuse. There are also some people that have gone crazy over money, and it’s sad how this thing can destroy our sanity!
My parents were both distraught when I came home from work yesterday, and I can’t even console them appropriately because as usual I came home tired again. Someone from their customer in the store that afternoon robbed the P9,000 (more or less $160) my father set aside in his belt bag to pay for the eggs he ordered that same afternoon. Mom told us that she was alone in the store when a woman came wanting to buy 2 trays of eggs, and a few more things. While mom was busy packing the eggs, she sensed the lady stepped inside the store and kept her preoccupied by asking how much is this and that. After packing the 2 trays, she again told my mom that she needs another tray tied separately, guess she was really busy completing her intention of robbing the belt bag hanging on the wall beside the counter. And, she did.
I was really shocked upon hearing this story. My mom lost her cellphone in the store last month and since then I have been forcing them to change the arrangement of the shop. The usual grocery setup up is really not appropriate anymore, now that my parents were both senior citizens and they’re just manning the shop by themselves. It seems that some people are taking advantage of them. Now, they wanted to rearrange the shop to limit the entrance of people near the counter. Oh well! If they only listened to me when that first incident happened, then we could’ve avoided another. We are thinking of installing CCTV but it's pricey and we don’t have the budget for that yet, maybe soon I hope.
Must be the money! Indeed! Thieves can be anyone, they can be friendly, and sometimes they pretend to have the money, but no. Their intention is still rooted in money, and in committing the crime.
It's wonderful to believe that the world is beautiful, but we can't trust everyone and continue believing that everyone is kind and truthful. Let us be extra careful.

oh oho h! saved this post while back ... how are your parents and the shop now? Just so happened that my sister-in-law also got robbed. Some referred help took her wedding ring and my nephew's wallet. :(
I guess it is gonna get worse. People are getting more and more desperate as life becomes harder and harder.
