Hello everyone, how are you all doing today? Today went quite well for me because I didn't have to travel to another city to take classes, that aspect of my practical training ended last week Friday.
I have started taking classes at the branch office of the institute which is also where the hostel is located, which means I don't have to take transport daily 😁 I just have to wait in my room till it's time for class, then I simply walkout. I can also run back to my room to rest and chill out if there's nothing to do in class or if we are waiting for the next teacher.
It rained heavily yesterday for the first time since I have been in Lagos. I and some of my classmates were walking to a nearby church that morning when I noticed rain clouds have started gathering and I told them it was going to rain that morning. Towards the end of the church service, everywhere suddenly became very dark and in a few minutes, there was a very heavy downpour of rain.
It continued that way for a couple of minutes and I was getting pissed off at the rain for falling at that time. If I was at home, I could have been happy because it means I can just tuck myself in bed with a cup of hot chocolate and watch a movie, but instead I am stranded in church and the service was already over.
I have been looking forward to the rain but I would say it has very wrong timing. Who else loves hearing the sound of rain pattering on a roof? And also the smell of the soil when it rains? There's also a feeling I get when I see raindrops streaming down a window and the wind trying to force itself in, it's a calming effect.
But hearing the sound of rain hammering on a roof while you're stranded outdoor is never a good feeling, you will keep praying for it to stop even for a brief moment to allow you to get home first before it resumes. Another downside to being stranded outdoors during rain is that you will have to keep dodging puddles of water on the road as you resume your journey after the rain has stopped.
That's the same thing that happened to me yesterday after the rain subsided and I was heading home. I kept trying to avoid huge puddles of water on the road and at one point, a vehicle splashed water on me 😩. I got home and discovered we didn't lock our windows before leaving the house earlier, and water entered through them.
Luckily for me, my bed wasn't close to the window but one of my roommates wasn't so lucky, as his bed is very close to the window and it was drenched by the rain. I always love the rain and I will pick it every time over a sunny day because the sun over here can be very terrible most of the time (just like the one I experienced today).
The weather was still very cold that morning, so I still went ahead to make myself a hot cup of chocolate and I took biscuits as well coz I was hungry. I watched some movies and I slept a bit but I got woken up later on by hunger 😆. I was too lazy to cook but fortunately, one of my friends gave me some snacks.
Later in the evening, I went out to get pizza which has been on my mind for a while. I tried home delivery but it wasn't working, so I just had to go out and get it. Some of my classmates were also interested, so they gave me money to buy for them as well. We purchased some pizzas, chicken pie, and ice creams, and that became my dinner.
Side note
Have you all noticed that Rusty's generosity becomes lower when BCH is dipping? I don't know about others but I have noticed it in my account and my friend Talon also said the same thing, and I have a theory as to why that is happening (if indeed it's that way).
What I think is that Rusty doesn't actually tip us based on the number of dollars (just like what we see in our articles), he tips using BCH. Think of it as him giving you 0.03 BCH (instead of $10) but what we actually see is the amount in dollars. Now, if he gives you 0.03 BCH in your articles when BCH is high, the amount in dollars is going to be high as well.
But if he gives you the same 0.03 BCH when BCH has dipped, the amount will be lower. I have seen a lot of people (me included) complaining of rusty not tipping as high as before, but what if he gives the same amount and it's only looking lower now because we are seeing it in terms of dollars? Think about it 😉
