Mom once had a side job. Come 2013, this side job unexpectedly blessed us with an international travel. She's teaching part time for midwifery board exam. She experienced teaching abroad too as part of her side job. That's the first time she was deployed to Singapore. Not only that she experienced teaching there, she also witnessed the beauty of the country so she blessed our whole family by sharing the experience with us. The fruits of her labor let her save enough to treat the whole family to a trip to Singapore. We stayed there for three days and we were able to explore a lot of tourist destinations there. Let me take you to the beautiful places we enjoyed at Singapore with this simple virtual tour.
First Stop: The Universal Studios
This amusement park, the Universal Studios is our first stop. We availed a service going there. We were dropped there in the morning and we'll be fetched at 6PM. Here's the entrance where your tickets will be processed. Next is the Universal Studios logo which a the favorite spot for picture taking. We enjoyed a lot of rides inside. I was not able to take pictures on all the rides we experienced but I was able to capture at least four of them. Let's take a look.
There are a few popular characters that have mascots. Some of these characters we saw are Shrek and Madagascar characters. We were lucky enough to see these Madagascar mascots pass by and they entertain us with their cute costumes and dance number. We had a ride inside after watching. It was a relaxing boat ride in a cave-like ambiance. You'll see the Madagascar characters as they sprinkle you with a bit of water. You won't actually get wet there.
Aside from the indoor boat ride, they also have this Madagascar themed merry-go-round. It's another relaxing ride that kids will enjoy since it's a merry-go-round but with a different design instead of a typical horse.
If you're into a more thrilling ride, here's the one I would recommend. This is a mummy movie inspired indoor roller coaster. It's the only indoor roller coaster I've ever experienced. Since it's indoor, this is not the typical roller coaster that goes upside down. The thrill here is that it's very dark inside and you won't see anything but the mummy characters. Imagine not seeing the rails of the roller coaster as it moves very fast then it will suddenly stop when the mummy characters surprise you as they suddenly appear in front of you. My niece and I had fun as we feel amazed with this horror themed indoor roller coaster.
This is actually the one I like most. I can't get my eyes off this most thrilling ride. You can choose between the red and blue roller coasters. The difference is the flooring. The red roller coaster has a floor while the blue doesn't have one. I can hear the people scream up there out of excitement. I love to try the blue one because it doesn't have a floor and I want to feel the thrill of my feet hanging in the air as I sit and turn upside down with that roller coaster. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to ride this one because we only have limited time so we prioritized the ones that everyone is willing to ride and everybody is scared of this roller coaster so the majority won't ride this one. I at least took this photo and kept it as remembrance. Hopefully I can ride this one in the future.
After a tiring ride, we took a break and have some snacks. They serve drinks in fancy designs like this kung fu panda. I ordered a cola and chose this design. It was no surprise why Universal Studios is one of the tourist attractions in Singapore and I highly recommend this amusement park. It was really fun there.
The Cable Car Experience
The following day, we went to another tourist destination, the Sentosa area. We had a cable car ride there. This is the photo I took while other cable cars pass by in front of the one we are riding. We also enjoyed the cool breeze above as we have a relaxing ride.
These two aerial shots I took are some of the most beautiful views I have seen while we were riding the cable car. One thing I like about Singapore is the balance between infrastructure s and nature. They don't take the nature for granted despite having a well developed city, they combine their beauties instead and I salute them for that. These photos show how they combine nature and infrastuctures with style.
The Beautiful Cities
After the cable car ride, we explored the cities and started to shop and eat. Here are some of the famous cities we've been.
This Merlion statue is a very popular spot for tourists who love to hang out and take pictures. The lovely ambiance of classy buildings and nature combined makes a suitable background for this attractive statue.
This park lives up to its name. This is the longest and most tiring walk we ever had in the city, an olympic walk indeed. This is designed for people to have a good walk while enjoying the nice classy view of the buildings in the city's business district.
After a long and tiring olympic walk, we went to our next stop, the Marina Bay Sands. This is a high end mall located at the Orchard road, the expensive and high end business district of Singapore. You'll only see high end stores and fine dining in this mall. There is an infinity pool at the rooftop. The only exemption is the food court so we ate our lunch there, a chicken meal so the kids will eat well.
If you are into shopping, I highly recommend this Bugis street shopping and night market. This is the cheapest shopping district with tons of varieties of items to choose from. You'll see foods, fashion items, wallets, key chains, souvenirs, everything you need. You can haggle here too or if you're lucky enough, there are some sellers who give discounts on their own discretion even before you haggle. This is the one I enjoyed most since I'm a shopaholic. To my fellow shopaholics out there, this is the place for you.
Yes! Chocolate is life. So don't miss this locally made Merlion chocolate. I highly recommend this to everyone, especially to my fellow chocolate lovers. It's rich in taste and the sweetness is just right. There are variations to choose from such as milk chocolate, dark chocolate, hazelnut, almond, and crunch. You can also choose between the bars and merlion shape. Aside from clothes, this is also the one I enjoyed most in shopping.
Singapore never fails to amaze me with a nice view up to the last day of our stay. This ferris wheel view is the last city we passed by. This is the road going to the Changi airport. There are a lot of places we haven't explored due to limited time and I look forward to go to places I haven't seen the next time I go back to Singapore. I am forever thankful to my mom for this very memorable travel. This is one of the happiest memories I cherish and this is a precious remembrance she has left.
