Why Poor parents produce more children

I bring weekend greetings to you all, hope you're doing good and catching the vibe of the weekend already? It's morning here(at the time of writing) and the weather is calling for a "all day" sleep, but if I go all day sleep, I bet to be ready to stay "all day" no food too🤪. Man must work!

While scrolling down on my favorite news feeds to get a topic to write, I came across a thread about the RICH and the POOR when it comes to child bearing. The talks are so hilarious and at the same time very interesting too.

The topic goes like this: Why do poor parents have more children than Rich parents?

Let me not go far with this discussion, I'm a clear example of the family of such. I grew up to actually see it clearly that my parents really produced a full football team, we are X (Roman figure) in numbers from one father and one mom, isn't that a football team?🤣. Although we've always enjoyed the company of having a numerous siblings but it's not easy coping with finances. Funny enough, my parents are not into any white collar job, they are into full time substantial farming and they were able to produce and provide for these number of children.

My dad would always say that when the senior children grow up, there'd pick up the responsibilitties from them... No doubt that's the stage we are currently but it's not easy I must say.

Let's look at the some of the reasons why poor people have more children to Rich parents.

• The poverty mentality(produce more to be safe in the future)

Some parents have seen themselves as they can't do better than their current situation, they've concluded that their end point is poverty especially those into farming. So the only way to remove the family from poverty is to produce children because in the misdt of 10 children, out of them must be rich and that would pick poverty out of the family.

These parents keep striking to produce children tirelessly because they have common food to sustain them at the early stage. In Africa (especially in Nigeria) we have it that, there's a certain age where the child is expected to stay in the family house, be it a male or female. When the time comes, the child is expected to go out to hunt for himself and bring goodies to the family. For the ladies, at a certain age, you should be in your husband's house to tap from the husband and bring blessing to the family also, especially taking your junior ones to stay with you 🤷.

Alhough this mentality worked for families in the 80s and 90s but it's no longer working. In this era, if you produce more than you can train, then be ready to live with poverty till your end because just one child you pick to train in school will drain your entire networth. How much is university's school fees?😋.

• Poor People have enough time for s3x

This is one of the biggest! I'm not saying that rich people don't have the s3x interest but the interest in poor people is high. On a norm, rich people have their time choked up with activities to make money, they keep going from one business to another (although some of the so called business people do hit on the street too), so they oftentimes don't have chance to have s3x with wife, but you see the poor people, they count s3x with wife as achievements. The poor people know all the s3x styles and while the rich know all the business styles. The cheapest and major form of pleasure to a poor man is s3x, and if they have wife at home, it's all cheap!

Poor people have richer sp3rm🤣

• Illiteracy

Let me ask you a question, would you produce more Children with the way the economy is going(in this Buhari season)? Your answer is NO.

Most of these parents that produce more are illiterate, I don't mean the unable to "read or write" illiteracy but they lack ideas and knowledge. Most of these people don't know what's called family planning....I'm sure my parents didn't know of this. Some counters the function of c0nd0m and call it names with thought that "what if it slides in?".🤦

Counselors should do more to educate adults in rural areas too about sex education & family planning, and not just hammering on teens.

I know of a guy in my city of residence, he has four children now with a space of 1year on each of them. He dropped the last one last month and when it was time for naming ceremony he was running helterskelter to provide (food and drink) for attendees. This guy has no major work or source of income and he's producing like machine, and I do wonder who's giving him orientation on this lifestyle.

Shockingly, the guy is a graduate, you see why I said it's not just about the read and write literacy.
