Worst Election in History

Elections bring out the worst in people. It's sad how people end their friendships, relationships, and even cut the ties between their parents just because they don't have the same political views. How are you willing to break the bond between someone just because you have different political views and opinions? Are you willing to risk and let go of that friendship you have just to prove that you're in the right place and the other one is in the wrong place? It's so sad to think that there are people who are like that, who are willing to give up and lose everything just to prove and fight for what they think is right.
This is probably the worst election so far! People are becoming the worst versions of themselves, turning into something that they are not, which is very sad. I haven’t posted or shared any political related posts on my Facebook timeline or on my other social media platforms. It’s because I don’t like arguing and explaining myself to someone. I’d rather keep it on my own to whom I will give my vote. This election is very crucial, especially since people are now more into social media, where your single post about politics can be turned into something that can lead to hatred.
I'm writing this because we all know that this election in the Philippines is likely to be the worst yet, and it's like a battle between two teams to see who is stronger and has more supporters, a battle between the two powerful colors Red and Pink. While the candidates fight for victory, their supporters fight to demonstrate their devotion to their candidate. But the loyalty turns into negativity, to the point that everything leads to a negative campaign for both teams.
The problems are the supporters of each team. Both supporters of each team are toxic (not all). That means whenever they see someone posting about their candidates, they will then bash or say something negative about it.
I saw a Facebook post about someone who committed suicide after getting bullied by the supporters of the other team. He was only promoting his chosen candidates by posting them online, but it turns out all his comment sections were filled with hate comments from the supporters of the other team, to the point that they went overboard and attacked him personally. The sad thing is that the people who bullied him were those people whom he looked up to, and one of those was his teacher. Just imagine how come a teacher does such things towards his students when he’s supposed to guide them and educate them in a right and positive way, but as for him, he’s already attacking him personally and it’s no longer related to politics.
It's so sad that it has to end that way when, in fact, it could have been avoided. But too bad we are all different in how we interpret things. We have different understandings of everything. Some may call it overreacting, but we can’t just judge him for doing that. It’s because we have no right to judge him. We don’t know how his mind works. We literally have no idea what he has been through. Maybe he’s suffering a lot of problems and that cyberbullying triggers him most.
And it's sick how other people responded and commented on the said post. Reading those comments made me sick, and I am totally disgusted by them. How can someone be so happy knowing that someone has just committed suicide? They are sick! There’s probably something wrong with their brain, and they need to go see a psychiatrist ASAP. Some even blamed the victim for being too soft. It’s just so sad how politics turns everyone into a monster. Pathetic.
I hope that you aren’t the same as those toxic people, show your support to your chosen candidates in a good way.
Election day is coming up on Monday, and may the best team and candidates prevail!
I hope that whoever the next President is, loves the Philippines as much as they love themselves.
Politics is the dirtiest and toxicist place to be. Plus, social media adds ingredients for it to be worst. But even so, we can't blame anyone as it is the nature of politics. People should be more responsible. We can vote and support while resepcting other peoples choices. And remember to expect to receive negative comments when you made your choice public.
