The BH which stands for Body, Heart, and Hand is a language model created to illustrate how a person acquires and learns a language. The following are the variables which play essential roles in the process:

Inputs. These include sources of knowledge of a language which can include arrays of materials and experiences. Conversations, speeches, textbooks, mass media, internet, lectures, and etc. are examples of these. Inputs serve as starting points for a person to initiate acquisition and learning.

The Brain. The inputs are processed by the brain through cognitive/ mental processes. Information can either be stored in short or long term memory depending on the relevance of ideas. These inputs now become schemata or prior knowledge which becomes meaningful as a person uses them in life applications. Moreover, this can be supported by the Neurofunctional Theory and brain lateralization which point to language functions of the brain.

The Heart. The heart is only a representation of feelings and emotions, and its analogy to human experiences which can be reflected important elements in language acquisition and learning: Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation

Intrinsic Motivation. This variable includes self-efficacy, self-worth, and self-esteem. This serves as a driving force for a person to acquire or learn a language that becomes meaningful and purposeful in real-life situations.

Extrinsic Motivation. This variable comes from the environment including physical, material, financial, and other elements coming from the outside. This kind of motivation, though not as important as intrinsic, is a part of the process, especially among young learners.

These two variables are complementary. With praises, rewards, and punishments, they can be classified as positive, negative, progressive, or destructive depending on a person’s perception. They supplement the brain where information is processed and where the memory determines what to be retained and to be freed.

Intervention. This variable occupies the space between the brain and the heart. This refers to the support or assistance given by a learned or an expert who can provide exercises, strategies, or methodologies helpful in a person’s language acquisition and learning. It can be aligned to Lev Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory specifically along scaffolding and zone of proximal development.

Environment. This variable refers to the context/ situation where the language is used. The formality,

The Hands. According to Aristotle, the hand is the "tool of tools."The hands represent Language Application/ Manipulation which includes having fluency in speaking, reading, and writing, and having good listening skills. This variable can also point to Communicative Competence which means having a language used not only, but also appropriately; these include components: linguistic, sociolinguistic, discourse, and strategic competence.

Outputs.  After having gone into the process, the productivity stage comes last. These outputs refer to those mentioned in the “hands”. They serve as a measure of awareness and understanding of a language; and feedback is given by other users of a language.

That is good to know but we have to remember that the brain would be nothing without the heart and the hands. Thanks for the support! God bless always:)

Now i really understand the model, their specific function and how the input will process then what the output could yield, the model is not that hard to understand if you read their specific function. Thank you for this and for the mention😊

I learned a lot, i can't even choose a favorite😂 they play specific roles but i guess the brain is dominant, and complex enough to perform task, but both the heart and the hands have great contribution and seriously vital

I actually have a knowledge of the Neurofunctional Theory which concerns the function of the brain in language learning. Would you like me to write an article for you? By the way, you seem so good at synthesizing my articles. In what field are you into?

I am actually studying engineering, but i love reading even long books or novels (as long as the flow and organization of idea is good, and i find your articles great in construction) that's why i find it interesting reading and synthesizing your articles , thank you for the compliment😳😊 and yesss I'd live to read something about the brain, it's complicated but really amazing. i love human anatomy also😂

Wow. You really are a book worm. You must be a very good student. I wish everyone got the same motivation. I will write that article about the Neurofunctional theory soon. Keep updated.

I like the intrinsic motivation. Self worth and sell esteem are the ones I lack. I wanted to acquire or learn a language that becomes meaningful and purposeful in real-life situations.

What language in particular do you want to learn? There must be a reason why you want to learn that language and that reason will serve as your motivation.
