Christmas in Hong Kong is probably one of the anticipated events of the year. It's not because of the festive celebration itself, but because of the grand Christmas installations. Each year, several parts of Hong Kong are transformed into Christmas wonderlands. From Orient Express Grand Central last year, the IFC is transformed into a Santa Village winter wonderland.
I was looking for Santa, Mrs. Claus, elves, and Rudolph, but to no avail. Yet, I had a chance to visit the replica of the Arctic Circle - Finland Santa Village.
Where do you want to go? Madrid, Roma, Tokyo, or Seoul?
The kids and I kept peeking into the small door of the elf house, hoping to see some elves. Isn't the house too cute? Are elves even real? I wish to see one. The friendly one though.
Meanwhile, in Santa's office, the queue was always long so I waited patiently just to see the inside of his office. Visitors were free to have photoshoots inside and there was staff assisting them in taking photos, especially those solo travelers like me.
The photographs of the real Santa Village are on the wall, and the long list of names and wish lists on his table catches anyone's attention. I was supposed to find my name, but never mind as more people were queueing and aiming to see the inside.
This kid was curious if the fire in the fireplace was real. Those socks brought back the good old days when I was a kid. I guess you guys had experienced the same, hanging socks on the window every Christmas eve, hoping to get some presents from Santa. Unfortunately, it's just a tale, lol.
The aroma of Mrs. Claus's freshly baked bread spread in the air from her bakery. There were bread and cookies in her baking area, and her Christmas tree stood beautifully with gifts underneath.
This has been a perfect spot for a family photoshoot. Mrs. Claus's fireplace is a perfect backdrop.
At the back of the bakery was Santa's Main Post Office.
Everyone was allowed to write their wishes that will be sent to Santa Claus in Finland's Arctic Santa Village.
On the other side is a free sleigh ride for kids along with their parents. It's like riding in a real sleigh as Rudolph and other reindeer run on the screen as they navigate the rope.
It was such an enjoyable experience wandering around the Santa Village. In my next travel blog, I'll bring you to the huge bakery of Mrs. Claus.
