International Workers' Day
May 1, 2022. No. 232
International Workers' Day or May Day is a commemoration of the world labor movement. It is a day that has been used habitually to make different social and labor claims in favor of the working classes. It is a national holiday in most countries of the world.
After 2 years without being able to march in the different squares of the country, to enjoy this day, due to the pandemic, this year it is time to return to the streets to show unity and commitment. The different squares of the country were filled with flags and energy from the thousands and hundreds of thousands of workers and students who went to march once again in this celebration of the entire town.
The president convened as follows:
“The JosĂ© MartĂ Revolution Square can be and will be the most beautiful painting of an epic that already has 63 years of non-passive, non-accommodating, non-defeatist resistance. Let's paint then, together, the landscape of unity and continuity. The landscape of a revolution in power. We are going with everything to this May Day,” said DĂaz-Canel.
This march was conceived and a more than deserved tribute to the health professionals who have faced the Covid-19 pandemic in recent years and also to that brave group of Cuban scientists who have managed to create several of their own vaccines, with which they are already 100% of the population has been immunized. “The intelligence, creativity, courage, dedication, the dedication of our scientific community and of all our health personnel and our people went over all obstacles and saved our lives,” DĂaz-Canel said days before, after celebrating the return to the old days of massive mobilizations, read by Havana as an expression of "majority support for the revolution" and a party of resistance. "This small country, without great resources and with a genocidal blockade and brutal financial persecution, has jumped over its own limitations, shortages, and uncertainties, to achieve what other nations with greater resources could not."
Cuba is an example of solidarity, dignity, and resistance before the entire planet. Without a doubt, the path that the vast majority of its people want to follow is the socialist path and to continue improving every aspect of it. To continue building a Revolution that for more than 60 years has had to keep fighting despite a genocidal blockade imposed by the greatest power in the world on this small island.
