No hope for the youth...
In a country where students have been condemned to sit at home for over 6 months, it isn't surprising to see a major newspaper headline read "No hope for the Nigerian youth". Though many got angry with the headline, on further look more than 50% of these students are afraid of what the future holds. Saying they feel Hopeless isn't an insult but a blow below the belt.
Some learned one trade or the other, while some started interning at various companies, some are working, while some started their own business, and even some make use of their device to make money but these "some" is just a little percentage out of the students sitting at home for 6 months (7 months in some days). Those left out are in a state of anger, fear and defeat.
Without hope one is as good as dead. The day one loses hope, is the day one's life ends. However great life may seem sometimes, there's always a bit of hope that keeps you going. Your job can be taken away from you suddenly, and you can lose everything you have when you least expect it but one thing that cannot be taken away from you is your ability to "hope", it can never be taken away, so hold on to it as tight as you can and don't ever give up.
When things seem to be going south, and you're told the probability of getting it is close to Zero, hope is what keeps you going.
Hope is the light at the end of the tunnel that lets you see the brighter future even when it seems very dark. As a young man living in a country like Nigeria, it is easy to get tired of the unending problems.
However, it that makes you wake up every morning and face your problems so that you can work out a solution to your problems, it gives you the strength to carry on when all seems lost.
Hope is what makes one belief in a better tomorrow. contrary to popular belief, hope does not make you a dreamer; it makes you an achiever. It is knowing with certainty that things will get better, no matter how bad it looks today. It is not a blind trust in things; it is also not having all the answers. Hope is having the courage to keep going and never giving up despite the odds that seem stacked against you. As long as one still has hope, there is still reason to live and keep fighting.
Just like faith, you need to back up your hope with action. It's not enough to say positive things, you need to do things that will make your dream manifest itself.
At work yesterday, a young boy came to us and said he can work as a labourer for the masons, but masons came with their labour so he was asked to leave. He insisted that he was willing to do anything, he was jobless and needed money. The engineer asked him to arrange the store and also take out all the dirt around the site.
From one odd job to the other, he kept on going with a smile on his face. I left the site late yesterday tired and weak so I didn't bother to check on him but getting to the site this morning I was told the Client came late yesterday and saw him working. He spoke with him and gave him his card.
I don’t know what they talked about or if the client will help him but from all indications the client promised to help him. If he stayed at home hoping for a better future but took no step to work towards it or do something for the time being he'll remain stagnant.
I'm asking you to hold on to your hope, even when everything seems to be going wrong. Hold on to your hope, and you'll find that you have more energy than ever to get things done and look forward to the future, but you need to couple it with action. An idle hand is the devil's workshop. It's when you have nothing to do, bad thoughts come to mind.
Your job can be taken away from you suddenly, and you can lose everything you have when you least expect it but one thing that cannot be taken away from you is "hope", it can never be taken away, so hold on to it as tight as you can and don't ever give up.

I started drafting this article yesterday immediately I got to work but couldn't finish it, getting to church today the Preacher talked about "hope" and I was amazed, since it tallies with what I was typing. I just added a few things to it .
So sad to hear about the headline that there is no hope for Nigerian youth. For as long as we are still alive, there is always hope. I greatly believe that the youth is the future. And that the key is to never give up. Have a great day dear friend happy boy.
