One by one they tried the key into all the locks they could find and surprisingly, with each opening they created, they found more and more information on various things. It started with notes on sylphs, from physiology and abilities and as they explored further by using the key on doors… horrific sights greeted them. The door to the house’s bathroom led to a dungeon of sorts. His bedroom was what looked like a confinement room. His parent’s room… had blood stains and medical equipment spread across a stainless steel table. And what made it worse was the dried-up blood that coated the blades. Byron’s parents must have used it before they disappeared. His father’s study didn’t seem to be enchanted. There was one last door they needed to check. The door that leads outside.
Based on all the things they saw, it didn’t seem like Byron could even stomach whatever might come up next. Yes, his parents were rather secretive and odd but what were they hiding. He had no choice but to see it through. With a deep breath, he steeled himself for what he would be witnessing.
Shaky hands reached for the knob that he already unlocked. It didn’t help that there was the light that seeped through the door cracks. The moment he opened the door, the sight of both his missing parents was the first thing that greeted him. But not with their usual hugs and kisses. No, this time, they greeted him as corpses floating in a cylindrical glass container.
Shacked didn’t come near what Byron felt. He was frozen in place. Even as the door shut close and the room grew chilly with cold air, he could care less as he dragged himself to stand in front of his parents for a closer look.
“They deserved it”
His head slowly turned to Sylvia “Deserved what?” He grew more terrified as he eyed her up and down.
She didn’t look like her usual self. There weren’t any stitches on her arms and head. Her hair wasn’t so thin. Her wings weren’t torn. “Everything we did to them”
Again, a strong gust of wind circulated the room nearly blowing him away but with the wind were voices. Murmurs, endless murmurs that sent shivers down his spine.
“They deserved it! They deserved it!” The voices grew louder and one by one head popped out after the other, all of them mutilated in one way or the other. Was this what his parents had been up to all these years?
“Did they do this to you?” his tone was barely audible among the haunting voices. He was shaking, and slowly backing up to the door
“Now that you know what the humans have done to us, especially your parents… we need to kill you and every other human on this planet too”
“Sylvia, I know my parents were horrible but not all humans are like that” He pleaded yet his hands were grasping around for the doorknob, or whatever opening he could use to escape.
“You wouldn’t understand!!!” Her voice grew shrill as a scream escaped her. The kind that was enough to make Byron’s ears bleed. She was manipulating the air around him, making the air molecules vibrate faster to the point that he started bleeding on every open orifice on him.
“Ple-please... Stop” Agin, he begged while desperately trying to cover his ears to block out her voice but no matter what he did, she continued.
She continued on for a while longer. Until his skin turned blue from the internal lacerations that the molecules in his body were causing.
“Sylvia... why..?” With his last breath, he gazed at the sylph he had tried to help out. He still wanted an answer but his body finally gave out and he succumbed to the darkness of death.
"I didn't have a choice... if I didn't become the villain I would have been a weapon or a lab rat! They would have continued torturing my kind for their science!” Tears were streaming down her cheeks as she approached Byron. “Even if you save them, it won't be long before they wonder how to use you. That’s just how humans are."
Pretty short but ayyeee I'm done with this one UwU
Oh how sad. But that's how it happens in life. You get killed by the one you least expect
