God Himself is a mysterious one. Holy Trinity is one of the Catholic Dogma or teachings or doctrines that is difficult to understand or comprehend.

The Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity throughout the whole world. This is one of the biggest celebration which is done on Sunday after the ascension of JesusChrist. This doctrine is very hard to explain what Holy Trinity is. This is not an invention of the priests because we can testify that there's a bible verse that defines Holy Trinity. It's difficult to understand this teaching because only through the help of the Holy Spirit, we can understand but not fully understood. As I said earlier, God is a mysterious one.

In the bible, the best concrete example that we can describe Holy Trinity was the time when Jesus was baptized by Saint John in the Jordan river.

As soon as Jesus was baptized, He came out of the water.Then heaven was opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God coming down like a dove and lighting on Him. Then, a voice said from heaven, "This is my own dear son, with whom I am pleased. Matthew 3:16-17.

In this situation, the three were present: The Father who said that this is my beloved Son, The Son, in the name of JesusChrist who was baptized in the Jordan river, and The Holy Spirit that came down like a dove. These three, The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are called by the Catholic Christians as Holy Trinity or One God in Three Persons.

These three, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit have their own role and function.

God the Father gives life.

God the Father is the Almighty one. He is the creator of heaven and earth that includes human. On the last day of creation, they [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] made human being in their likeness.

God the Son saves life.

Jesus came down on earth for a purpose. He has three functions: prophetic, kingly and priestly. He has fullfilled his missions through teachings but ended into death. He offered his life for us sinners. In this sacrificial way, He opened the gate of heaven.

God the Holy Spirit sanctifies life.

Through the Holy Spirit, the lives of people will become holy. As the third person of Christian Trinity, His role is to sanctify life.

Message of the Celebration

The Holy Trinity is the role model to the society or community. Because the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit unite one another. They worked as one team. In similar way, the families in the community should cooperate one another in order to promote life, to save life and even to sanctify life.

Same also in the family. The father should perform his part as a head of the family. He should lead all the family members for the spiritual works like to lead the prayer 🙏. The mother should give light to her children in times of their failures and even in frustrations. The children should do also their part as members of the family. They should respect their parents. They should help their parents on the different household chores.

Final Thoughts

God wants us to be united with Him in his kingdom. He gave us life, he saved us through His Son JesusChrist. But what we need is the participation and communion. God waits our responses. He asks our full response to His call.

As Catholic, we believe only in One God in Three Persons, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit or also known as Holy Trinity. This is the basis of our Christian Faith. He gave us life, saved life and sanctified life.
