That was almost three years ago before the pandemic hits to our country, my wife kept a promise to Mother Mary @ Lindogon, Simala, Sibonga, Cebu, City to return back at that place when she will receive a total healing from her disease.

Way back 2018, my wife was admitted to hospital as advised by her doctor after knowing her x-ray results. It happened few months ago when she delivered our first baby. She has high fever on that time and she has also difficult to breath. As her doctor showed to us the film, he said that she needs to be admitted just to get some waters inside of her lungs. We were worried at that time because we need to go home first to get some things before going to hospital in Ormoc City.

To cut the story, she underwent some laboratory tests. Same result with the x-ray that her lungs both sides were full of water making her difficult to breath. More than half liter of water was taken out from her lungs. She felt better then. She could breath well but her fever was inconsistent.

Of course, we asked help from God for her fast recovery. We prayed to Him everytime we attended and participated the Holy Mass. But it seemed like our prayers were unheard and unanswered. After a month, we went back to our doctor for follow up check up. She was tested again with an x-ray but unfortunately the result was the same as before. I asked her to know her condition. She said, when I breath long, I could feel pain inside. She took all the medicines given to her by the doctor. But she did not totally healed.

Some people advised us to go to quackdoctor (tambalan). We listened them and tried their option. But then again, nothing was happened.

Our last option was to ask the intercession of our Holy Mother Mary. We believed that she can intercede our prayer as mediatrix between us and Jesus. So, we went to Lindogon, Simala, Cebu. This place is a miraculous place where Mother Mary appeared many times to a man and gave messages as to what would happen to this place for many years to come. I don't know the whole story about this place but I am certain that many sick people were cured and healed through the intercession with Mother Mary.

What did my wife tell to Mother Mary? How did she make her promise to Her?

We went to Simala Shrine together with my whole family. We prayed and made a petition written in a piece of paper and dropped it to the prayers of the faithful box.

After few months, my wife forgot her health issue since we were busy at that time in our work. She unnoticed that she was gradually healed. One time, she shared her feelings and condition with me that she was fine already. She no longer experienced difficulty in breathing. She believed that her prayer was heard by Jesus as God through the intercession with His mother. Actually, we are both devotees with Mother Mary. She was happy on that time not because she was healed already but because we could visit again to Simala. She said to me that she kept 'promise' with Mary. A promise that she will 'go back' to the said place if she got healed mercifully.

I was also excited to travel and visit to Simala. But our excitement was cut because of pandemic crisis. We never expect that our plan will not be realized because there was a rapid increase of the number of Covid patients in Cebu, City. We find time but we failed. We wait patiently and in God's perfect time. And we don't want to break the promise.

When the Department of Education has declared no classes starting on May 4 to May 13 because of serious preparation for the incoming national and local election day, it gave us idea to pursue our travel going to Cebu after the election. And we have decided to have it on May 12. Last Thursday, we went to Baybay City to buy tickets. Unluckily, all the travels on that day in Baybay, Bato, Hilongos and Ormoc were fully booked anymore. We went back home but bringing tickets for the next day travel.

Finally, the time has come. My wife's promise was realized this day (Saturday). No more trials, no more hindrances, no more challenges and no more problems we have encountered along our ways. In fact, we will be leaving in Cebu tonight.

It's our belief and practice that our prayers will be heard by God when we go to a sacred place, a holy mountain or a miraculous place like Simala, Cebu. God wants us to spend time and efforts as to show how much we love Him.

Prayer without actions is nothing. It is meaningless if it is spoken verbally. It is useless if our faith is not accompanied with good works or deeds. It is our faith that heals.

Don't forget that God is the source of all goodness. We are healed through our strong faith in Him.
