Yes, you read that right, a million dollars...Wondering if that is possible? Oh yes, of course anything in life is possible
After graduating from high school, John Cronin wanted to open his own company. Today, John, who otherwise has Down syndrome, earned his first million dollars almost 2 years after opening the company and after a year of business! ...
John, along with his father Mark, runs a sock trading company.
"I love socks. They are cheerful, colorful and warm the feet. I only wear weird socks and that's exactly what I wanted to sell," he says.
In December 2016, father and son founded the company "John's Crazy Socks".
At that time, they had 55 different socks in their assortment, and now they have more than 1,200. Thanks to John's advertisement on social networks, people buy them not only from Huntington, on Long Island, where the company is located, but also from all over America.
The son is the person by whom the company is recognized, and the father takes care of finances, technical matters and employees.
John packs the orders, and encloses letters and sweets with each delivery. If the buyer is from Huntington, John personally hands him the order, with a smile.
"It's a wonderful way to get in touch with people," says Mark father, the father of a boy with Down syndrome.
A special impetus to the company was given by the platform "The Mighty", which publishes stories about disabled people on Facebook.
The video about John's sock store was viewed 19 million times in just a few weeks, and the number of orders increased from 900 in February 2017 to 10,000 in March 2017.
After a year, the company had ten employees, eight of whom were handicapped. They say that they want their goal to show that, with the appropriate support, people with disabilities can achieve everything.
The motifs on the socks also reveal what captures John's attention, so the socks are dedicated to autism, Down syndrome, breast cancer and Paralympians are part of his range.
