Tama Hills
Humans are intrigued by nature, we love the sights of forest, mountain, hills Water bodies, hills and more. They are good to see and worth visiting. Every nationality is blessed by nature with one or more places to visit. It is really good to have one near you. In the borders of my village, lies a gigantic hill horizontally demarcating the village boundaries. It is called "Tama Hills". An interesting place to climb and look around.
This hill has an ancient history, some people say it provided shelter during war, while some say it bridged the enemy and prevented them from penetrating my village, thereby protecting them from. So many stories about this hill. This Tama Hills is made up of sand and stones. Huge rocks that form patches on the hills. Broken clay pots are seen almost everywhere around the hills. I believe that our ancestors might have dispersed that because; it was in their days that clay pot was used mostly and generally.
I believe that there must be a hidden treasure under one of the huge stones and rocks on the hill. They have remained so for years upon years. Since I was a child till present, the hill has never been excavated in search of any valuables. I keep believing that a time would come for that.
I have Heard that our forefathers hide treasures under the rock and bury them. Some dig the earth and store it cool till thy kingdom comes, while some will give it out to others when they are prepared to leave the world.
From Africa's view, the world is green. Right at the top of this Tama Hills, the whole city will be covered by trees, tall and huge trees making it difficult to see smaller buildings.
This hill is also a center of attraction to people from within and far. Traditionalists visit the hill for their practice, some Christians also visit to pray. People also come with their loved ones to look around and have fun. The hill is a safe place for everyone unlike some places that are unsafe for people to visit. This makes it stand out and free for everyone to come around
Tama Hills has been a source of income to the villagers. The straw grasses that grow on the hill are used for making roof tops and thatched houses. It grows yearly and is due for harvesting during the dry season when the grasses are dried.
In the olden days when there was no zinc and aluminium for roofing our houses, our forefathers didn't bother about it because they have a more natural method of roofing and building. These grass roofs were so common those days and everyone could afford them. Nowadays, it is almost more expensive than zinc and aluminium roofs.
My favorite part of this hill is the place where a large flat rock is found with a footprint like shapes. This particular place has so many beliefs about it. Some say it is the spot where the gods of the earth stood when they visited the earth. Some say it is a spot where the ancient gods of our land stood to look after the village. As kids, we believed that it is at that spot that Jesus stood before transfiguration. So many people with their own views but yet, no one knew what sign or meaning it represents.
Right now, I could say that it is just a print that formed during the rock's formation. Shapes like that are rare and uncommon to see among rocks. There might be a cause for that I keep thinking, but whatever it is, it is my favorite part of the hills and thanks to nature.
Thanks for reading and have a lovely month of August. See you in my next post and bye for now.
