You are a father for many reasons.
Today is the International father's day and I celebrate with all the fathers across the globe, it is great to see people taking the father's Day celebration seriously because sometimes I don't even know the day is been celebrated but seeing lots of people post their father's picture; celebrating them means a lot to fathers out there.
I have seen lots of posts about Father's Day and I want to share a piece of what's running in my mind.
The father's day celebration isn't meant for everyone, I don't know how this may sound but it is true. Many people pose to be fathers, some even brag about it despite not being worthy of the name father. You are not a father because you brought some kids into the world, the impact you have had on them throughout their existence is what makes you a father. Bringing a child into the world is not enough and as the topic said, you are a father for many reasons.
You are a father because you take responsibility.
Responsibility is one of the major reasons why you are a father, you should be happy taking the responsibilities of the kids you have brought into the world. Feeding, clothing, shelter, education, and everything are your responsibility as a father, you mustn't fail at them. Regardless of how much you are earning, your children must be sorted how because bringing them into the world means you are capable to take responsibility.
You should not become a father because your parent wants you to be so, you don't become a father because of peer pressure or mistake. With my little experience, people who become a father by circumstances most times do fail at taking responsibility. Fatherhood requires preparedness just like every other stage in life, it is more than just being a man.
Responsibility doesn't end with the things you can do with money, there is a responsibility that doesn't require money.
Discipline: This is a very important part of fatherhood, it is the responsibility of a father to teach a child to be disciplined. A child who is not taught morals would end up bringing shame your name, every father must be up to the task when talking about discipline.
Faith: Regardless of your religion, it is your responsibility as a father to teach your child the way of God so that when they grow, they wouldn't depart from it.
Many fathers believe that women are in charge of the family's spiritual life, but it shouldn't be that way. You are the head and must live by examples for your offspring, children learn better when as a father you lead by example.
Protection: Every father is a hero to their children but what happens when you fail to protect or defend them when they need you most.
Helping your kids to be confident and making them feel safe are your responsibilities as a father, you have to always be on ground to be their hero. It is your responsibility to teach them how to defend themselves when they come of age as well.
Teaching: You don't need a master's degree to teach your kids the values of life, being able to teach them educationally is fantastic but it is no crime if you are not educationally sound, the school can always fill the space but the school has a limited role when it comes to teaching values.
It is your duty as a father to teach your kids life values, those are lessons they will have to carry on in their hearts. These lessons are mandatory, I have seen families pass on these values from generation to generation which is why we mustn't fail with it as a father.
Not teaching your kids the values life values can make you fail as a father even though you have invested so much into other areas of their lives.
A lot of fathers complain about their children choosing their mother over them but they haven't sat down to think about why it's like that. Many fathers are performing their duty of providing for the family needs but they usually don't find the time to spend with their kids and this automatically breaks the bond gradually as the kids grow.
Spending time with the kids matters a lot, family bonding, going out, and doing things together promotes the father/children relationship.
I remembered telling my fiancee that I want to learn the basics of hair-making and she was surprised when I told her the reason, I would be able to make my daughter's hair.
Little things like this build a good relationship between father and kids, it isn't just providing money. I know the schedule is always tight, and catching up with a lot of things can be time consuming and stressful but we have to always create time for the family.
The role of a father can be very tasking, difficult, and demanding at the same time, we must put all these things in consideration before taking that step. To every true father out there, I pray that you live long to enjoy the fruit of your labor.
The celebration is not just for the fun, it also serves the purpose of reminding us of our responsibilities, it is a celebration to check how well or bad you are doing as a father.
You're right, celebrating Father's day is just one person and what other fathers say is that it's not easy to be a father, it's just that easy.
Happy fathers day to you friend
