Unraveling the mystery behind the missing Jewelry
The dispatch service business was the trend in town, and Fred quickly dived into it after his NYSC.
He was humble and very good at communicating with his customers, he got big clients with his attitude which helped his business grow quickly. In 2015, he got a loan of 5 million to boost his business.
Fred had a huge vision for the business but he had to expand based on the resources he has, his friend wanted to partner with a small amount of money but he wanted a bigger investor. He eventually took Olumide in and they worked together. They got another vehicle, employed office staff, and expanded their space since the business was growing very well.
He became the face of the brand, his job was to get bigger clients since he was good at convincing people to do so, who would have been able to represent the brand better?
Some brands made them their company delivery services while he met individuals who also choose to use Fred's brand. Among his clients was a jewelry store, the biggest in the City. They chose Fred because of the company's reputation and he always chooses to do their deliveries himself since their package is usually worth millions.
In 2017 Fred was already doing his delivery abroad, he sends and receives goods from overseas by partnering with an international delivery service and a cargo airline in the country. On the 18th of February 2018, Fred personally received a package. It was diamond jewelry, he arrived at the warehouse late after collection and decided to deliver it himself the next day.
His staff knows that he handles bigger packages himself so they don't interfere with his job and that evening he told one of the drivers to be at the office very early because they had a huge delivery the next morning. Olumide was curious and asked what was in the package, Fred told him it was jewelry. The driver interfered in the discussions, "boss, it must be a very expensive one, I will be here as early as possible tomorrow sir". He took his leave with the other drivers, Fred and Olumide were left in the office.
Soon Fred gave Olumide the package to keep in the safe room, they locked the doors and left as well. They both had the keys to every room in the warehouse so it is either of them that usually open the warehouse in the morning. Fred drove out as he waved goodbye to Olumide who was already negotiating with a bike man.
That night, the security officer noticed a moving figure in the compound, he took his torch to check around but didn't see anyone. He was about to turn back when he felt a bang on his head, he fell to the ground and couldn't see anything before he passed out.
The intruder rushed to the warehouse with a bunch of keys but was surprised to see the door broken already, he went in carefully pointing a gun and torchlight to avoid being attacked by the person who broke the doors. He went straight to the safe room and the door was broken too, he picked up a few things and left.
The security man was left lifeless till daybreak, and the driver was the first to reach the office the next day. The gate opened itself while he was knocking, and he was shocked to see the security man dead. He called the police immediately, and Fred since Olumide wasn't picking up.
Fred rushed down immediately, he got there at the same time the police arrived. He checked around with the police after the body has been taken away, and discovered damaged doors. The police demanded all the staff were gathered for investigation when Fred reported that a very expensive package had been stolen.
Everyone came around except Olumide, they kept calling but he was not picking up. A police officer who was walking around saw an Android phone by the garden, he picked it up and everyone confirmed that it was Olumide's phone, they called and it rang but the problem was locating him. He wasn't at home when they went searching for him, and he became the first suspect. The police believed that the person who broke into the warehouse was responsible for the gateman's death, the driver who made the call was detained and they were on the lookout for Olumide.
