"Our budget friendly viands"
Hello everyone it's me again, how was your yesterday so far? Do you have a rainy and windy Tuesday as well? I wish everything is fine and everyone is safe, despite how bad the weather outside.
Anyway today I'll be going to share with you, our budget friendly viands. So without any further ado, let's go!
Tofu with vegetables
This dish is more on vegetables, so if you're a vegetarian, this is really good for you. Sometimes it is okay to be a vegetarian, more healthier 😉.
So the ingredients for this dish are Squash, lady finger (okra), eggplant, tofu, onions and garlic, oyster sauce and seasonings.
Anyway the vegetables can be depend of your choice. You can add string beans and bitter guard if you like.
The preparation are just simple and easy. Just cut the vegetables and the tofu according to the size of your choice, then the onions and garlic then in your hot pan put a little some oil then fry the tofu until it turned into golden brown, then suet the onion and garlic, then stir-fry the vegetables. Put ½ cup of water and let it boil to cook. Then one's the vegetables is already cook, put the oyster sauce and add some seasonings for the taste.
Preparation time 30 minutes.
Chicken/Pork Adobo
This is every Filipino favourite dish.
This dish is just too simple but it's so delicious. Sometimes I prepare this dish with pineapple chunks and ripe banana to have a great taste. The ingredients are just onion, garlic, black pepper, laurel, lemon/white vinegar, soy sauce and sugar. But if I have budget, instead of vinegar or lemon I prefer pineapple juice. I really love it's taste 😍.
Filipino beef soup with vegetables
We (Filipino's) call this dish Nilagang Baka.
Since beef is quite expensive, I only prepare this dish one's a week or two time's a month and I really put lot's of vegetables on it. And mostly I prepare pork for our soup. I also put lot's of ginger and black pepper inside my beef soup, so it will taste a little more spicy. This is really perfect for rainy days🤤.
Tinolang Manok/ Chicken soup
Our all time favourite soup.
This is what I prepare for us yesterday. This is also so simple as you only need to have chicken, ginger, onion, green pepper, green pepper leaves and papaya. Alternatively you can use chayote. However in the province we only cook this dish with lemon grass and papaya. Chicken soup with lemon grass has a great aroma and it's more delicious, most specially if the chicken was native/farm chicken.🤤
Furthermore I also prepare Fried chicken as it was my partner's favourite dish. I also fry fish, then to make it more special I cook it with coconut milk and I put some bok choy/ pechay. Sometimes I also cook the fry fish with tomato and egg 😋.
Then sometimes I prepare Lumpiang Shanghai, Pork Menudo and Monggo/green beans.
So those are our common viand's.
How about you, what viand's do you usually prepare for your family?
