The tongue is a deadly weapon, full of deadly poison. It defiles our whole body, sets our soul on fire and is itself set on fire by hell. - James 3: 6-8

In our age and time, the tongue has become a weapon with the potential to destroy. This is particularly true with social media and the rise of online forums. Words have been known to lead to war, injustice, violence, and discrimination – all stemming from the power within one's tongue. As Christians, we should always aim to use our tongues for the betterment of mankind. The reason for writing this title "Power In The Tongue" is to speak to Christians about how we are uniquely gifted with tongues not only for speaking life and hope but also for bringing judgment and condemnation. This is to encourage believers to be careful with what they say with their tongues because “one day we'll have to answer for every careless word we speak".

"All kinds of paralyzing fears can come into our lives through our tongue. If you know that your words can hurt people, then you'll be careful with how you use your tongue. You'll take your words and be very selective about them. You'll see the power that they have." - Gary Thomas

We should be careful with what we say to ourselves, we should be careful with what we say to other people, and we should be careful with what we say to God.

We should never underestimate the power of our words through our tongues.

The ability to communicate is a beautiful thing when it's used positively and constructively.

But it can also do incredible damage when misused

Today, I am going to talk about the power of your tongue. Your tongue has the power to bring life or death. Watch what you say. What you say can start a fight, cause a divorce, lose a job, kill a relationship, you can even lose your life.

Take that lady who killed all those people in California because she was angry with her boss. If she would have controlled her anger with her tongue and said: 'Lord forgive me!' maybe God would have changed her heart and that murder wouldn't have happened.

The way you speak to yourself determines your mindset. If you speak life into yourself, you will attract more prosperity, but if you speak death, it won't surprise you when death comes. Life isn't fair, and it's not easy, but it's there for you

The tongue is amazing, it brings life into a dead person. It can take away our faith, our jobs, and our health. The tongue is powerful.

The tongue can be used to build up and tear down. The tongue can break relationships, the tongue is a weapon of mass destruction. Have you ever said something that you wish you could take back? Maybe it was in the heat of the moment or maybe it was just foolishness. It happens to everybody. We should be careful with what we say with our tongues.

There's power in the tongue, it can bring life or death. Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue" It's a powerful instrument in our bodies. It's like a laser, it can heal or harm, it can hurt or heal. I see many people nowadays doing damage with it.

One day, you may need to be in a position where you will need someone to speak favourably on your behalf or maybe not too far from now, you might be that person somebody else is looking to speak favourably on your behalf. So today whether you like it or not, what goes on in your mouth has a direct impact on your life and even on others.

The tongue's influence is not limited to just the physical consequences but also spiritual sequences. We can use this powerful instrument for evil or good on ourselves or others. Take time every day to meditate on words you say and words you hear.

What is the power of the tongue and how does it affect not just ourselves but those around us? How does the power of our words come into play when these words have lasting effects in the future?

Can our words hurt others or can they build people up and build others around us up as well? If a person can control his tongue he can control himself.

Powerful versus disservices with language - We should try to be powerful with our words. I find that there are many times that we say things out of frustration or out of anger to those around us and then the snowball effect happens. They said something to someone else and that other person starts to think that we’re all like them.

Not many of us tend to think with our tongue. We use it to taste, swallow, and speak. Yet when words are hurtful, they affect the ones they were spoken to and also the ones who said them; we don’t know what effect they will have on others later on in life, especially if it is imprinted in their minds. James 3:1-10 talks about how “the tongue is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It pollutes the whole body, sets the course of nature on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

Discovering the power of our tongue is the first step to self-discovery. Tongues are so powerful that they can kill or deliver life. James 3:8 warns us that with our tongues, we can injure others, we can destroy ourselves and we can also deceive others. In John 8:11, Christ told us that when He is dragged into court by the Pharisees, their accusations against Him would be based on what He said. Even during His final moments on earth, Jesus kept warning us about the power of our tongues.

The tongue is a powerful thing, it can bring life or death. When words are said, they can't be taken back, so what you say, should be pleasing to the ear. What goes around comes around, so always remember to be nice. The one who tells the stories writes history, so be careful how you speak. Speak life into others, not death, speak hope and happiness not hate and misery. Change your attitude, change your mentality and say what you mean not what you mean to say! Be careful of who you talk to because their words can become your actions.

I mean this in all honesty, what is the outcome of using negative words? Words that are meant to be hurtful and to bring down, we use them daily and feel as if it gives us power. There was an incident in a school in South Africa where a student opened fire on his classmates. The reason for this action was said to be because he felt an extreme sense of power when he used bad words to degrade others. We have seen this in other countries, where people have used their tongues to hurt and to cause harm.

"For by your words you will be justified and by your words, you will be condemned," Matthew 12:37

Do you have an elder brother or sister? Have they ever told you something that has made you do something that you didn't want to do or think in a certain way? I believe that the same principle applies when we say things out of our mouths.

With the power in our tongues, we can lead people toward God or away from him. We should be careful with what we say with our tongues. If we say things that are not edifying, not encouraging, if we talk about people's business, if we are just slandering someone, then it is a lot like putting poison in the ears of others and it will eventually destroy them.

I will like to put an end to this but I am pretty sure you all understood what I have tried to say. We should be careful with our tongue and know when to tame it. Thanks for reading, I really appreciate it.

Bye for now 🥰🥰🥰.

The tongue is an incredible organ which without it, has no speech. But with it, we can say so many things. We must learn to "keep our tongue in cheek" as the English people would say.

The tongue looks really small but it can cause damage that can be irreversible and for that reason, we must be mindful of how we use and what we use it for.

The tongue or Rather our words are powerful. It doesn't only mean the 'power' as regarded in the Bible but powerful enough to arrange, ammend, scatter and as well as destroy... We are all gifted in our tongues. Just like you mentioned, a word from someone can push someone to against his will probably when he's angered
