How being desperate affects you as a writer
It's no secret that being desperate can have a negative impact on our lives. This is especially true when it comes to our work, and in particular, our writing. When we're desperate, we tend to make bad decisions and take on subjects we have little or no knowledge about. This can make us produce lower-quality work, simply because we're trying to make it, too fast.
This isn't good for us, and it's certainly not good for our readers. Desperation can often lead to mistakes, and readers can easily spot them. They may not always be able to articulate why they don't like a particular piece of writing, but they'll know something is off. And this can lead them to stop following you altogether.
So if you're feeling desperate, take a step back and reassess your situation. Figure out what's making you feel so anxious, and address those issues head-on.
Below are some ways being desperate can affects us as a writer:
1. Being desperate make you jealous of other writers success
Jealousy is an inherent nature of humans, but we must be able to control it so we won't be enemies of progress. Being desperate can make you a jealous writer, and once you become jealous of others' success you started hating them even if they are your friends. Once you start hating someone who you could have learned from you stop your way of progress.
In this case, if you were a follower of the one who is making success you wouldn't want to support him or her. Some can even go as far as downvote others' articles and comments due to jealousy orchestrated by desperation. At this time you feel condemned any time you want to write when you remember the success of another writer you know and think your article won't get you anywhere.
We must bear in mind that writing on such a platform as this is not a competition. So work on your success and stop being desperate.
2. Being desperate make you lack creativity in writing
When desperation sets on you as a writer you find it hard to put your thoughts together. You do things in urgency and this can be reckless. Content writing needs creativity, the ability to put your thoughts together and appealingly describe a thing to your audience. When you are desperate you are always in haste to produce an article, you will think publishing many articles at a time will deliver the results you want, so you ended up producing worthless pieces of writing that don't benefit anyone.
Writing involves all our thinking faculty. The time is always there and doesn't matter how long it takes to complete one piece of article, the quality is what matters. No matter how creative a writer may be, a 5 minutes read article takes nothing less than 3 to 4 hours to complete.
3. Being desperate make you judge the system or the platform you write
This is quite obvious among some writers. Due to desperation, you start judging the system or the platform you are writing for. You make unfair comments and spread negativity about the platform. You feel the platform is biased in the way of its operation. Some can even go all out to write and publish an article all written to judge the system. Once you are at this stage of desperation you begin to think some people are being favored by the system as if they have a back office where they relate with the platform developer. Some think some people have a connection with the platform developer or the rewarder bot.
4. Being desperate make you result in name-calling meaninglessly
Because you are desperate to make people see your article, you start making mention of people's names meaninglessly to have them upvote your article. Calling people on your article can be so disparaging when there's nothing related to them in your writing. You can not mention a person and expect the person to be happy when there's nothing related to him or her in your writing.
Meaningless name-calling can only do two things for you, it makes you a beggar or reduces your ratings in the eyes of your followers. Your name-calling can not make people reward you if they don't like your content. People choose their preference for reading, no matter the number of people you mentioned in your writing if they don't like your writing they won't even read it let alone give you a vote.
5. Desperation will make you a lazy writer
Being desperate makes people lazy so they begin to look for shortcuts to success. This is where copy-paste and plagiarized contents come from. When you are desperate you become lazy to learn, lazy to read, lazy to research for information to write your article. This is especially obvious among new writers here. They are desperate to get the money quickly without taking time to learn how the system works.
One of my affiliates sends me a message expressing his frustration for not earning a dime since he has been posting articles here. My first response to him was how many people have you subscribed to? His response was no one. If you don't subscribe to people how do you want others to subscribe to you?. If you don't read others how do you want others to read you?. I told him to go and start afresh by writing a good introduction post.
6. Desperation makes you give up so quickly
This is the reason many writers gave up as soon as they start writing here. You are desperate to get results with just one piece of article that may not have up to 10 views. Even if you are a superstar in writing you don't get that break just with your initial publication. Once some have tried and not gotten anything after a few attempts they gave up and stop writing.
I compliment the courage of some writers for coming back after reading some of my content on related issues. Now they are getting results by following my advice.
Bottom line
People come into writing with passion, but not all of them have the drive to keep writing. There are no shortcuts to success. Make sure you don't become desperate, be humble and aim for your goals. You will eventually achieve them.
If you think you're going to become a top writer overnight you are wrong. You can achieve great things in writing, but it's a gradual process. Stay strong and purposeful, you're not alone, we're here together.
While reading this I wonder what happened that made you write this. Jealousy can be the trigger needed to do a better job. I don't think it's the readers who reward you most since most people do not read at all. I hope they read this one and find a way to join the club of successful writers lifting this platform. It would benefit us all. Still, it's hard to be noticed. 🍀💖
