It's Okay to Talk Behind People's Backs
Are you the kind of person who is "selfless" or the one who always puts others first before yourself? Or are you the "selfish" type of person who always puts yourself first before other people?
Actually, it's okay to be either of the two because we have the freedom to choose and become who we want to be.
If you want to be selfless, always make sacrifices for the people special to you and even to strangers, and set aside your own happiness for the people you love, then go ahead. Nobody is stopping you to do so, especially if it's something that will make you feel fulfilled and happy at the end of the day.
However, if you just want to be selfish, think about yourself, focus on your life, and pursue your goals, dreams, and own happiness first before others because you don't like minding other people's businesses and you just want to avoid the noise and dramas around you, then it's okay too and nobody has the right to judge you for doing it for yourself.
In the latest Korean drama series that I have recently watched titled "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" starring Seo Yea Ji and Kim Soo Hyun, Nam Ju Ri told Moon Gang Tae that "Being selfish isn't always a bad thing." and I agree with what she said.
Sometimes, it's not bad to think about yourself and your future first before others because it's your life. You don't have to be constantly thinking and putting other people first, especially if it's something that involves your own happiness and future as well.
Nam Ju Ri also said that "It's okay to be selfish when things are too stressful."
In times when you don't know what to do and what to choose anymore, and when life throws at you so many trials, challenges, and difficulties, it's okay to choose and do something that will make you feel happy and be at peace. You don't have to be guilty of putting yourself first because, at the end of the day, when everyone leaves you behind, you will be left alone and nobody will help you get back up but yourself.
Meanwhile, in terms of being selfless and giving, Moon Gang Tae also taught me a valuable lesson from the drama.
Moon Gang Tae said,
"When you don't need something,"
"It's nice to offer it to someone who needs it."
So instead of throwing away the things we no longer need or want but they still work just fine, such as our old clothes, shoes, and bags, just give them away to people who might need them most. Because you will never know that that one thing you consider "garbage" is a "treasure" for someone else.
On the other hand, Moon Sang Tae (Moon Gang Tae's brother) also reminds us to not give everything and learn to leave something for ourselves. He asked,
"If I give all my stuff to people who need them,"
"What will I have left?"
It's commendable to be able to help others and be a blessing to other people, but it's also just right to leave something for yourself. It's not about being selfish, it's about taking care of yourself. Because once you have nothing left for yourself anymore, then you will not be able to give more to others. So learn to take good care of yourself first to be able to help others.
Sometimes, it's okay to be selfish to take good care of your well-being.
Yes, it's okay to focus on yourself first before looking for someone else. You cannot give what you do not have. Love yourself, take care of yourself and value yourself before fining or doing it to someone else.
