CoViD-19: The Unwelcomed Guest (a Poem)
I was an unwelcomed guest,
My arrival was never expected,
For me to vanish is what they request,
But my death lies in the people's hand.
Millions of lives have been sufferring,
Thousands of people are still mourning,
Heads of States are trying to defeat me,
But what can they do? I'm an unseen enemy.
"I won't last long", that is what they knew.
Everybody seemed to have no clue.
When the President announced lockdown,
Students rejoiced as if I was a clown.
I am humanity's greatest nightmare,
I am not a beautiful disaster,
I shutdown bussinesses and universities,
And you should learn to deal with my adversities.
With me, the youth has been highly affected,
They can't do what they've planned and wanted,
Teenagers are forced to stay at home,
They're stuck in the four corners of their room.
To their mental health, I am a huge threat,
Shattered their minds and made them stressed,
I make them think of things they'll soon regret,
I am the reason why teens are depressed.
I am gladdened and a little bit surprised,
For the efforts of the youth for their well-being,
Extending help to their friends without a price,
As if it is their purpose of living.
They learned how to be mentally healthy,
By spending time with their family,
Though to some, a house is not a home,
They still found ways not to feel alone.
My existence brought chaos to their education,
Face-to-face classes have been in restriction,
Online learning to them is an additional pain,
With this effect, how much can I gain?
The new mode of learning tested their resiliency,
Even if pressured and full of uncertainty,
Students indeed have their own creativity,
To finish the semester with excellency.
Some teens come up with donation drive,
To help students cope with online education,
Many benefited with their hearts in action,
They are the hope of the future generation.
The youth have changed in a positive way,
"I've been a blessing in disguise", I must say,
Being productive, and making themselves better,
I hope it continues when I'm gone forever.
