The Renault Group, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, members of one of the world's largest automotive industry alliances, announced a set of new strategic guidelines with a view to maximizing the competitiveness and profitability of the three companies. Alliance partners will adopt the “leader-follower” scheme, in order to maximize the efficiency and competitiveness of their products and technologies . Each of the members will lead in the regions where it is best implemented, assuming the leadership and support role to increase the competitiveness of the partners. The leader-follower system should allow a reduction in investments, by model, in the order of 40%. Within the Alliance, the world's geographical areas are named as “reference regions, to increase competitiveness.
These regions are China, North America and Japan; Renault in Europe, South America and North Africa; and Mitsubishi Motors in Southeast Asia (ASEAN) and Oceania. With this model, the renovation of the C-segment SUV, after 2025, will be conducted by Nissan, while the future remodeling of the B-segment SUV in Europe will be Renault. In Latin America, products based on B platforms will be streamlined, evolving from four variants to just one for Renault and Nissan products. This platform will be produced in the two factories and each will produce for Renault and Nissan. In terms of technological efficiency, each company will continue to share investments made in platforms, power units and technologies. This sharing has already proved its effectiveness, for example in the development of the CMF-B platform for the Renault Clio and Nissan Juke, as well as the Kei-Car platform for the Nissan Dayz and Mitsubishi eK Wagon. The CMF-C / D and CMF-EV platforms will be next. The leadership of autonomous driving will fall to Nissan; Connected car technologies will stay with Renault for the Android and Nissan platform in China. Renault's E-body - the main system for electrical and electronic architecture. The e-PowerTrain (ePT) engine: CMF-A / B ePT by Renault and CMF-EV ePT by Nissan. PHEV for the C / D segments will remain with Mitsubishi.
The BMW 5 Series received the traditional renovation in the middle of its life cycle, in both Sedan and Touring versions. An important model for BMW since its launch in 1972. Now, it is better prepared in the face of competition. Prices are not yet known. Aesthetic changes include, as usual, new optical groups and new bumpers with a more aggressive design. The double kidney front grille has also been redesigned. The color palette now has new options, within blues, reds and even a “risky” green, for the M550i version.
The wheels have also seen their updated design. Inside, we find new colors and coverings available, including a new integral sports seats MO The infotainment system of the new BMW 5 Series has been revised to the latest version 7.0 which includes two screens, one as a digital panel (10.253) and another in the center of the passenger compartment (12.33). The navigation system now has the calculation of routes, traffic and search for addresses in the cloud, for greater speed of use. Remote software updates are now possible. However, the main highlight is the debut of the Android Auto connection, in addition to the existing Apple CarPlay. Under the hood, all engines have a mild-hybrid system, which combines a battery with a 48v alternator. This provides 11 hp and reduces consumption, improving the response.
All engines are available with xDrive all-wheel drive and meet Euro 6d standards. The petrol range starts with the 2.0 l four-cylinder in the 520i (184 hp) and 530i (252 hp) versions. Then we find the 3.0 l of six cylinders of the 540i (333 hp) and at the top of the range, for now, the M550i that is equipped with the V8 of 4.4 l and 530 hp. The sporty M5 will receive a facelift until the end of the year where we will find many of the changes of the “common” models. Also on the table is the possibility of appearing a CS version, more powerful and radical, of the M5. Regarding diesel, BMW introduces the Series 5 dual-phase supercharger and the 48v alternator in all engines.
The 520d keeps the 190 hp extracted from the 2.0-liter engine, but the six cylinders debut a new generation called the B57D30T2. With the injection pressure increased to 2700 bar, the 530d gains 21 hp and reaches 286 hp and the torque rises to 650 Nm, while the 540d xDrive reaches 340 hp and 700 Nm of maximum torque. -in, which combine gasoline engines with an electric motor, the BMW 5 Series extends its range. If the 530e xDrive maintains a combined power of 292 hp and 65 km of autonomy in electric mode, the 545e xDrive is now born, which assembles a six-cylinder engine with 3.0 liters. Transferred from the system already installed in the Series 7, the combined power reaches 394 hp which guarantees an acceleration from 0-100 in 4.7 seconds and 55 km only with the energy accumulated in the battery. The 530e and 545e are now also available in the Touring body, a first in the range. The optional equipment has been reinforced with new items such as laser lighting (LED is standard) and the full four-wheel steering, now optional on all engines.
