What’s my first-hand experience in the typhoon Paeng

In the past couple of days, I have been extremely busy with my studies and I cannot get a chance to write even though I have plenty of ideas coming up on my mind. The reason was that my body and mind can’t be synced anymore. Like, you have no energy to do anything else aside from laying down on your bed and sleeping early since you have to wake up early as well. The pressure is on, the burnout is piling, and I cannot get over with multiple activities at once so I have to manage my time very well if I want to survive.

As everyone knows, the typhoon hit our province, Cavite, really hard. The devastating effect can be seen on the news, but when you see it yourself. You would just be sad and feel extremely sorry for those families who have been flooded. Then, the water level rises to their roof and the sad part is that the rescue teams are barely enough to save everyone who needs help. I’ve seen photos online that there are places that ask for help, but the rescue team hotline is not responding at all. The heck is that? The lives of people are in danger and the rescue team are saving those families that are barely under the hips of flood.

The rest of the families whose houses were flooded above the human height were left out. Yes, that was the reality that happened, and the news didn’t bother to broadcast it either. I had this friend from Noveleta, Cavite that they wanted to get out from their house but they cannot because the flood rises so fast. The Noveleta river became full in the short amount of time and I believed there were four walls around the river that were wrecked and destroyed. It was truly devastating because it caused to flood even more in low-level areas.

If you don’t know, when Noveleta was flooded, the lower level like Kawit will definitely be flooded as well. I knew very much how scary it was when the flood in Kawit reached the roof of our house back then and the only thing we did was to stay awake for the whole night because you didn’t know how much the water would go up. That is the evident effect of high flood when you experience it. You are soaked, wet, and sleepless. You have to endure it until you make sure that you and your family are okay.

What’s the worst thing that I saw during the typhoon last week?

Well, I guess the worst thing was when there were plenty of families who were grieving and the coffin of their beloved was soaked in water because they couldn't get up any longer. That was unbelievable! You know, it feels like there is no respect for the death of your loved one and you had no choice but to bear with it. The moment I saw pictures that were sent to me by my classmates living in Noveleta, I can’t help but pity them. As much as you wanted to help, yet you are no longer capable of doing so.

I think if I am not mistaken, there is one coffin floating in the road and the authorities cannot identify it since the coffin has no name. But aside from that, although some made a meme about it, it was actually sad and disappointing. I may not know the whole story, but why would you let your loved ones' coffin be gone just like that without giving a damn. Poor soul. Anyway, the weather is still not great as of the moment. The rain has been pouring non-stop and most probably we will not be able to go to the cemetery today. I hope everyone is safe and happy.
