Taking an online class at the Mall due to the subject’s conflict
For the whole week, we have been scheduled to have face-to-face classes at the university. Most basically, we are entitled to go to University and attend our classes. We don’t have lectures for this semester because based on our class schedule, 7 out of 8 subjects are laboratories. Meaning, computer laboratories, activities, and exams will be based on hands-on. There are a little of discussions, but those are just to refresh us from the previous lessons last semester.
In fact, we were having difficulties doing our hands-on activities because unless we were ready and studied the previous discussions, we cannot perform the activity. This is the reason why the struggle is real: we all forgot the syntaxes and commands needed. Most of the time, what I did was review the notes prior to the activities so that I could still follow the programming hands-on. In addition, I noticed that our professors' timer to finish each activity lessened, and could you believe that we have to finish the 20-40 lines in just 5 minutes?
Supposedly, our face-to-face classes are full this week, but since we have one subject that is lectured. We have to attend it online because we cannot take it at the University. The instructions and memos handed from the administration were to conduct physical classes only intended for laboratories, exams, thesis defense, submission of projects, and hands-on activities for the technologist. It was truly a hassle for us because instead of taking all of the subjects, there will be two days where we have to take the lecture subject online.
As a result, this afternoon, we decided to stay in the Robinsons mall for the online class since it will be just an hour of discussion. We all brought out our laptops and connected to the free internet of the mall, and at exactly 11 am, we started the meeting. It was funny to see all of us, seriously listening to the discussion while we were at the two long tables. People were looking at us because they might be wondering why we wear IDs and attend online classes if the University is near to us. Lol! That’s the hassle I’m talking about.
Anyways, one thing that I didn’t like about going to the mall during vacant time is the spending spree of money for food. Like, the usual 50 pesos for food will be turned into 100 pesos plus the other expenses for other food. I am not regretting buying plenty of food but sometimes, I will just notice that my wallet balance will be drained fast. Although my allowance is provided by my father, I have to budget it well so that I can still save some money. Some of my friends will buy large snacks for us all and since it was free, we all shared it among ourselves.
After the online class, we decided to stay for more than hours again because we felt tired after the long day. In fact, our physical class started at 7 am with a tumultuous amount of activities. These drained our brain cells and we were trying to recover for a bit. Actually, we are quite sad because this will be the last day we will see each other again, since next week, the physical activity will not be held for two weeks. This means that our hands-on will be held at home which was not favorable to all of us. Why? It is because we cannot ask questions right away and it’s hard for us to code without accompanying.
