The new normal fiesta celebration,Viva pet senior!

We celebrated the town fiesta last January 25 but I was'nt able to write and publish this article coz I forgot where did I put the notebook in which I had written this .I wrote it first in a notebook coz my husband was bringing my phone to his work to recharge it .And when I was cleaning the house ,luckily I found the notebook and I am thankful that I had something to publish now.

Our town was celebrating the feast of the Sto.Niño,but it was a different celebration than before when the pandemic did'nt came yet.It was a big different and most devotees having hard to adjust the situation .We need to follow the protocols .Before I will share of whats happening for our fiesta celebration,let me share a little info of tye feast of Sto Niño.

Feast of Sto.Niño

The feast of Sto.Niño is a religious celebration unique to the philippines.The spanish title Sto.Niño means,"Holy Child"it is the baby Jesus.Filipinos have a strong devotiom to the holy child as can be seen through the presence of the Sto.Niño's image everywhere.

The devotion to the Child Jesus is as old as christianity itself in the philippines.Colorful festivals such as the Sinulog in Cebu City tells the story of the arrival of Christianoty in the philippines and the acceptance of the faith by the locals.

Senior Sto.Niño was the patron in the town ,and as a catholic ,we yearly celebrated the fiesta .Since we are facing the pandemic now ,we are having the new normal celebrations just to follow the safety protocols.

The new normal celebrations

Was a big difference to the past fiesta celebrations ,before many devotee can attend the holy mass and now ,because of covid ,it was changed only half of the capacity of the church are allowed to get inside at the church.

Theres no more stalls for ukay ukay ,and other cheaper items selling on the streets unlike before .

No more peryahan ,and other activities like disco,singing contest ,sinulog dance contest and others.

Even the fluvial parade ,a parade in the sea,riding a bigboat with the image of sto Niño and the boat was full with a flower decorations and bandaritas ,was remove as part of the celebrations.

The procesion of the image of sto.Niño was changed,before everybody was welcome to attend coz there was no limit and most of the devotee was bringing their own image of sto niño ,and now since its pandemic ,the procesion was they made it as a motorcade which only those who had vehicle can joined and most devotee was waiting for the motorcade to pass their every houses and they will show their image of Sto Niño saying "Viva pet senior"!

Last fiesta , the town are having a lock down ,and this year celebration was not ,there are still people going to their friend or relatives houses para mamiesta.

I and my family did'nt able to attend the holy mass coz it was raining and my son was having a fever that time ,every fiesta ,we always attend mass first before roaming around ,watching those activities and of course going to our relatives who prepared a lots of food as part of the celebration.

Everytime we attend the holy mass ,we used to the Sinulog dance after the mass then we prayed whatever we wish for and thanking him everything he gave to us.

Although the celebrations was changed but our faith on him was not .Instead we,streghten our faith on him.We are so thankful that we are safe from Covid and the typhoon.Hopefully this pandemic will end soon for us to get back what our lives before.
